Literary Nails: Incarnate by Jodi Meadows

Hey guys! So I was going to post this last week, but then I got caught up with school and studying for my exam... stressful, I tell ya! Anyway, this manicure was inspired by Jodi Meadows's Incarnate, a book I absolutely LOVE!

I apologize in advance for the sucky quality of the picks... sorry!

This is actually the first time I try this technique of applying the gradient. I applied three stripes of the different nail polishes on a make-up sponge, then I just sponged it onto my nails to create the gradient. For it being my first time trying this, I think it came out fairly well ;) I did make a huge mess though, more than usual, that is ;)

I decided to do two accent nails. On my ring finger and my thumbs I added little butterflies (they're probably hard to see, sorry!) And no, I did not do these butterflies free hand... I cheated and used a stamper ;)

Two butterflies on my ring fingers

One big butterfly on my thumbs

Here are the nail polishes I used (from left to right): "Shell Pink" as a base coat and for the butterflies; "Amethyst" is the darker purple; why yes, that is a "The Last Echo" nail polish; "Flirt Alert" is the pink one; and lastly, a shiny, fast-drying top coat.

Overall, I really like how it turned out. But next time, I think I'd add red to the design... I just didn't have any red on hand this time.

Let me know what you think! And leave me suggestions if you have any, 'cause I don't know what book to do next! (Though I was thinking about following up with Asunder...)
