Synopsis:

Wren Noble is dead—she was born that way. Vibrant, unlike other dead things, she craves those rare moments when her twin sister allows her to step inside her body and experience the world of the living.

Lark Noble is alive but often feels she belongs in the muted Shadow Lands—the realm of the dead. Known as the crazy girl who talks to her dead sister, she doesn't exactly fit in with the living, though a recent suicide attempt and time in a psych ward have proved to her she's not ready to join her sister in the afterlife.

Now the guy who saved Lark's life needs her to repay the favor. He and his friends have been marked for death by the malevolent spirit of a vicious and long-dead serial killer, and the twins—who should know better than to mess with the dead—may be their only hope of staying alive.

My rating: ★★★★★

I loved the premise of this book! The crazy girl with the dead twin sister who talks to her + friends cursed by some other evil ghost... um, yes please! I just love ghost stories! But beyond that, I loved the characters in this book, their backstories and their interactions. I particularly loved the dynamic between Mace and Lark. Once upon a time, Mace saved Lark from herself, now Lark must save Mace and his friends from this terrible curse. I totally shipped these two from the beginning... it’s a shame he already had a girlfriend ;) But, okay, I also really liked Ben ;) And the sisterly relationship between Lark and Wren was also great! It’s quite a unique situation they’re in.

Speaking of Wren, the Shadowlands were very interesting. It’s where she goes when she is not in “our” world, I guess. I definitely want to know more!

The story itself was great! It was very well executed and had crazy good action. It was also pretty creepy, but nothing nightmare-inducing. at least for me ;) I do love horror! In fact, it kind of reminded me of Supernatural with their ghost hunting and warding.

"Do want." This GIF is hilarious!

It was pretty freaking awesome. Lark was actually pretty awesome... and badass! And Wren can do some pretty cool things too!

Anyway, I really, really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it! I am definitely looking forward to reading the next one. I’m actually really excited!
