  3. This summer has been rather uneventful with getting two kids ready for going to college--one for the first time and one into an apartment.

  5. This has actually been a rough summer. Family death, having to take on a second job to pay bills, medical issues. Although a couple friends did a mini surprise treat for my birthday back in June so it wasn't all bleak and I did get to see my dad for the first time in 3 years so not all bleak! :)

  7. My son and I went on a 3 week road trip. From Ohio we went south and then southwest all the way to Nevada. We did a lot of "firsts" on our trip including digging for quartz, going to our first rodeo and seeing the Grand Canyon!

    1. That sounds awesome! I have to admit that I don't think I would have the patience for a road trip, lol. But I would love to see the Grand Canyon in person one day! It just looks so incredible!

  8. Didn't do too much this summer because of family drama but I did take a trip to Hollywood and visited the haunted hotel that American Horror Story Hotel is based on. I had a couple of beach days with my sister and her kids. And mine and my sister's bday and little brother's bday happened in July so that was fun.

    1. Oooh, yeah. Drama definitely is no fun. But it sounds like you at least got to have a little fun. Visiting that hotel sounds so amazing! I can't say I'm the biggest fan of the show, but I am a huge fan of horror in general!

  16. My children and I spent two months in Mississippi with my family. My grandfather is 97 years old, so it was wonderful to be able to spend time with him. My parents took us to Six Flags over St. Louis and we had a blast. My 13-year-old daughter and I rode the roller coasters twice each, and were racing to hit all the rides, but the park shut the rides down due to a storm. My son refused to ride hardly anything because he wanted to play video games - I was not amused. We also took a weekend trip with my parents and my sister to Nashville. We spent one day at the zoo. It was HOT HOT HOT, but I loved every moment. We actually got to pet a kangaroo!

    1. Wow! So much fun in one summer! And yes! My brothers are like your son too! One of them absolutely refused to get on the rides with us and then my dad told him there was wifi in the park -_- totally not amused. But my other brother and I got on some rides and it was fun!
