My rating: ★★★★☆

I was VERY excited about this short story—A Jack the Ripper-inspired Shadowhunter story? Ummm, YES PLEASE! I love this serial killer stuff! Oh boy, that sounded morbid 😅 Anyway, I had recently read Stalking Jack the Ripper before this, and that book was super disappointing. I was SURE this short story was gonna be better than that, but I don’t know...

So we got a surprise visit from JACE! Be still my heart.

He was helping out with some exercises at the academy, and it kinda made me laugh because he made it look so easy, cause he’s Jace 😆 But also, he has extra angel blood in him which makes him extra graceful and agile and all that, and I don’t know how fair that is to those poor kids 🤣 Anyway, I loved it!

We also had a surprise visit from TESSA! She’s the one who tells the story about Jack the Ripper. It was very cute because the story featured her and Will and their young babies 😭 And even Jem (aka Brother Zachariah) made an appearance. It was nice to revisit them. The revelation of who Jack the Ripper was though... Kinda underwhelming, if I'm honest. But at least this one had action! (Looking at you, Stalking Jack the Ripper 😒) I loved the present-day stuff with Jace and Tessa, I liked revisiting the past with Will and Tessa, but the Ripper stuff was kinda meh. It was unfortunate, since I was excited for it, but I did enjoy the story overall!

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a link to your review or comment below! 😊
