My rating: ★★★★☆

I love Sassy so I was very much looking forward to reading this novella! Excuse me, Sashelle. She hates being called Sassy. Lol.

Even though this novella is a prequel, taking place years and years before Krimson Run, back when humans first settled on the planet Hadriana, the author recommended this be read at least after the third book. And I’m glad I listened because in Krimson Surge we find out some very interesting things about this caat (yes, caat, not cat. She’s kinda like a cat but bigger... and smarter lol), so beware of spoilers up ahead. Lol.

In this novella we see a young Sashelle come across humans destroying her land, humans she would like gone. So we follow her on her quest as she tries to get rid of these terrible invaders. It was very interesting following this young Sashelle because she wasn’t as sure of herself as she is in the present-day books. Which makes sense since she was still pretty young here. But I enjoyed getting to follow her as she grew in confidence and made plans to put a stop to these humans that were tearing up her land. Plus, at this point, I was still in awe of her and her ability to talk to people in their minds and even influence them a bit, so that was a lot of fun!

I really liked this! It was a short, fun adventure and we got to see Sashelle’s origin story, if you will, and we understand a bit more why she decided to help Quinn and Francine in the present-day books. Plus, we also learn why she has the long, badass name she does. And here I thought Quinn’s daughter was just giving her a cute nickname 😂

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a link to your review or comment below! 😊
