Monthly Wrap-Up: March 2018

And another month flies by... seriously, WTF? Lol. I can't believe April is already here! On the plus side, the weather here seems to finally be stabilizing. I really don't mind the cold (I actually prefer winter over summer), but the fluctuating temps were driving me insane! I remember one day a couple of weeks back, it was literally freezing out in the morning so I had to turn on my car before leaving for work. But then that same day on my way home, I literally had the AC on cause it was so warm out 😐 lol

Synopsis:

High School Can Be a Real Killer

Break a mirror
Walk under a ladder
Step on a crack

Innocent childhood superstitions …

But someone at the secluded Trask Academy of Performing Arts is taking things one deadly step further when the campus is rocked with the deaths of some of its star students.

Layna Curtis, a talented, popular senior, soon realizes that the seemingly random, accidental deaths of her friends aren’t random—or accidents—at all. Someone has taken the childhood games too far, using the idea of superstitions to dispose of their classmates. As Layna tries to convince people of her theory, she uncovers the terrifying notion that each escalating, gruesome murder leads closer to its final victim: her.

Will Layna’s opening night also be her final bow?

My rating: ★★★☆☆

It’s Spring Break in an elite boarding school on a secluded island right off of Seattle. Most everyone has gone home, but not Layna and her friends. Little do they know, someone is out to kill them. It’s too bad they’re stuck on the island with a murderer... with no way out.

Synopsis:

In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street—and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends.

With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move—and that one of their own has betrayed them.

Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, but her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will—the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?

As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

My rating: ★★★★★

Tessa’s brother, Nate, had once promised her everything in London—a new beginning, a wonderful place to live, a city of soaring buildings and gorgeous parks. What Tessa had found instead was horror and betrayal, and danger beyond anything she could have imagined.

The Shadowhunters of London are still out looking for Mortmain and stop him from achieving his plan with the Internal Devices. However, what they have found is even more betrayal.

I love this series, but the love triangle just hurts my soul so much! You all know how much I despise love triangles, they are messy, and the one in this one..

Synopsis:

Brenda hates her cousin Halley. And Brenda isn't the only one. Because Halley keeps stealing other people's boyfriends. So Brenda and her friends decide to plan the perfect murder. Something to go along with Brenda's perfect Halloween party.

Not that they're really going to kill anybody. It's just a joke.

Right?

Ha. Ha.

My rating: ★★★★☆

Brenda's cousin Halley moves in with her and her family temporarily because Halley's parents are going through a nasty divorce. But let me tell you, this Halley girl is a real piece of work! She is just awful! She is mean, a boyfriend stealer, and just a two-faced bitch, overall. Brenda cannot stand her cousin any longer, so naturally, Brenda and her two best friends plan to murder Halley at Brenda's upcoming Halloween party... On paper, at least. It's just a story for a writing project the girls have, so no one is actually going to kill anybody... Or are they?
