Synopsis: When gaggle of military spouses gets abandoned on a defunct asteroid base, can Quinn Templeton rescue herself and the others before the Krimson Empire attacks?

This story was first published in The Expanding Universe 5.

My rating: ★★★★☆

Quinn and a bunch of other military spouses are suddenly left stranded on an asteroid base just as they find out that the Krimson Empire is set to attack.

I have been wanting to read this series for so long and I am so glad I started with this prequel because you see exactly what happens and why. The first book in the series takes place a little bit after this—after Quinn was left to die, her children were taken from her, and, oh yeah, they accused her of treason.

I really enjoyed this novella! It was action-packed from the start, what with a bunch of unsuspecting military spouses being left behind to die. But I loved Quinn and the way she took charge to get them off the asteroid. She’s very smart and I enjoyed following her in this insane situation. I also loved her friend Tony! He’s an interesting guy for sure, and I’m not gonna lie, I was totally shipping him and Quinn 😆

But then we find out that she’s married and that made me sad. Lol. It’s fine though, cause I enjoyed this! The story was intriguing, and this was not as light as this author’s other series, which is fine with me! I love a little swearing and exploding heads! 😆 This was a great start to the series though!

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a link to your review or comment below! 😊
