Synopsis:

Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.

Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.

Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.

But when Cara's classmates get swept up by anti-L'eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn't safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara's locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.

Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she's fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.

My rating: ★★★★★

This book... I have so much love for it you don't even know! It was no surprise that it became a fast favorite of mine!

First of all, it had a very unique concept. A hot exchange student from another galaxy? YES PLEASE! Ultimately, what they are looking to achieve is an alliance between Earth and this other planet, L’eihr. However, there are some darker things beyond that that we Earthlings cannot even imagine.

So, Cara is the first ever human to take in an alien exchange student, Aelyx. She helps him be more comfortable in this foreign (to him) planet and she actually gets to learn many things about what it's like living on L’eihr. But like any major change, there are some people who strongly oppose, in this case a group known as Halo who are strongly against Aelyx's kind from coming to Earth. Things quickly escalate to dangerous levels, so much so that Cara and Aelyx's lives are put in danger.

Upon arrival, Aelyx seems very emotionless and robotic and his intentions on Earth are not the best, but soon he realizes that not all humans are as unlikable as he first thought... well, there is one human in particular: Cara. But there was SO much awkwardness between them in the beginning that it was funny! When they first met... well, can you say embarrassing? LOL! But you know, I really liked seeing Cora and Aelyx's relationship develop from that awkward "OMG, they're from another species!! How do I interact with them?!" phase to the hot "OMG, my feels!!" phase! Dude, Aelyx can be a serious sweetheart when he wants to be! That is, when he's not brooding, lol. Anyway, I totally ADORED him! He sure knows how to make a girl swoon... just thinking about it puts a huge grin on my face ;)

As for Cara, well, she is just very loyal to Aelyx and I absolutely loved that about her. She wanted him to feel at home (or as close to "home" as possible) and she stood by his side defending him, even when her affiliation to him cost her many relationships. I got one word for you: Cara = AMAZING!

I loved the story itself, the freakin' romance (*swoons*), the humor, the characters... it was all perfect! Such an amazing about star-crossed... err, intergalactic lovers ;)

The ending was kind of bittersweet with lots of surprises, but I so cannot wait to see what will happen next!

With a mixture of sci-fi, romance, and adventure, this book has a little bit of everything for everyone! No doubt you will enjoy this read :)

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a comment! :)

I loved how she dealt with some serious issues and still managed to have humour and a quick pace in it!
