Synopsis: Strep throat! Hay fever! Influenza! The world is a dangerous place for a red blood cell just trying to get her deliveries finished. Fortunately, she’s not alone... she’s got a whole human body’s worth of cells ready to help out! The mysterious white blood cell, the buff and brash killer T cell, the nerdy neuron, even the cute little platelets — everyone’s got to come together if they want to keep you healthy!

My rating: ★★★★★

This series is so much fun! I have loved the anime for such a long time, and I am really glad to finally be getting into the manga! I love it! It’s just so cute and informative, and it honestly does a relatively decent job of explaining medical things and making them easy to understand using these anthropomorphic cells.

In the very first chapter of the volume that dealt with food poisoning, we are introduced to Eosinophil...

...who is a type of white blood cell. I liked her! When you first meet her, she doesn’t seem as strong as other white blood cells, but she really proves herself against the bacteria causing the food poisoning.

Another chapter talked about where cells come from, and we actually got to see Red Blood Cell and White Blood Cell as kids! It was SO cute! The way he protected her even back then 🥹

The last topic this volume covers is cancer. Cancer is absolutely awful, but I’ll be damned if this series didn’t make me feel bad for the cancer cell. I also really liked his character design.

It was creepy! And he was most definitely a bad guy. But just his characterization and the way he came into being... it was just sad.

But I really enjoyed this! It was a fun, quick read with really lovely art. I loved the cute moments between Red Blood Cell and White Blood Cell, and I really enjoyed all the banter and bickering between all the different types of white blood cells (NK Cell and Killer T Cell in particular). They cracked me up 😂

And like I said, I really like the art! One of my favorite characters is Macrophage because I just love the juxtaposition of how pretty and proper Macrophage seems, but in actuality, she's a badass with a cleaver. Lol.

I am just really enjoying this!
