Literary Nails: The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White

I'm back with another book-inspired nail art design! This one I decided on very last minute because it's a book that was released just recently. It's also very Halloween-y...

The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein
The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein
by Kiersten White

Elizabeth Lavenza hasn't had a proper meal in weeks. Her thin arms are covered with bruises from her "caregiver," and she is on the verge of being thrown into the streets... until she is brought to the home of Victor Frankenstein, an unsmiling, solitary boy who has everything--except a friend.

Victor is her escape from misery. Elizabeth does everything she can to make herself indispensable--and it works. She is taken in by the Frankenstein family and rewarded with a warm bed, delicious food, and dresses of the finest silk. Soon she and Victor are inseparable.

But her new life comes at a price. As the years pass, Elizabeth's survival depends on managing Victor's dangerous temper and entertaining his every whim, no matter how depraved. Behind her blue eyes and sweet smile lies the calculating heart of a girl determined to stay alive no matter the cost... as the world she knows is consumed by darkness.

I actually have not read this book yet, but it is high on my TBR list! And here is the nail design I came up with inspired by said book:

Spoopy stitches. I actually used the following image as inspiration to get that sort of V shape with the stitches.

And it wasn't to hard to do! Here are the things I used:

Base coat: UNT - Ready For Take Off (Peel Off Base Coat)
Nude base color: Hunter's Helper - Holy Tax Accountant (Limited Edition polish)
Red accent color: SinfulColors - Get It On (Can be found at any drug store)
Brown accent color: Nine Zero Lacquer - Moose
Top coat: Superchic Lacquer - Marvel Liquid Macro Top Coat

And then I just used some regular back thread for the final touch.

First I applied a peel-off base coat because I didn't want to deal with picking the thread off my nails. Lol. Then I did 3 coats of the nude nail polish...

When the third coat was nearly completely dry I made these two impressions with, yep, this floss thing. Lol. Floss: not just for your teeth 😉 lol.

I did go over the impressions with the point part of the floss to make it deeper. Then I filled it in with red polish...

... and sponged on a light layer of brown polish to give it some texture.

I have probably over 200 bottles of nail polish (I know, it's insane lol), but believe it or not, I don't have one brown creme nail polish! So I used a brown holographic one I had. Lol. After that I added my top coat then used some clear nail polish to dip the ends of the thread and then attach them to my nails. And that's it!

This one was fun to do because I don't do a lot of 3D nail art. But I am very happy with how it turned out overall!

And there you have it! The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein nails!
What do you think? Did I nail it? 😜
