Synopsis:

GUARDIANS INC.: THE CYPHER is two stories in one. A glimpse into a multinational company that is in reality the oldest of secret societies, one that spans close to seven thousand years of existence, weaving in and out of history, guiding and protecting humanity from creatures and forces that most of us believe are only mythology and fairy tales.

The other is the story of Thomas Byrne, a young man thrust into secrets he shouldn't be aware of and dangers he shouldn't face, but that he ultimately will, for he is a Cypher. The only one who can steer humanity's future.

The ultimate conspiracy theory is that Magic is real. Kept in check by technology, but every five hundred years the balance can shift and, if it does, technology will fail and those creatures we've driven into myth will come back with a vengeance.

To protect the present, Guardians Incorporated needs to know the future.

My rating: ★★★★☆

One thing I love on any book I read is action! And this book was action packed!

The idea of this Guardians Inc company protecting humanity from this whole other supernatural world was just genius! I really enjoyed exploring it. The story was very interesting too... Thomas suddenly being thrust into this whole other world he thought only existed in books. And it turns out that his role in the company is more important than he could possibly imagine!

I really liked Thomas... he's a very strong willed character and very loyal, and so very smart! And two other characters I really liked as well were the butler and Henri! They were just great! Henri was very funny yet protective (though that is his job) and the butler really surprised me! Who would've thought?

There was a twist there at the end-- someone Thomas trusted who turned out to be a traitor... I'm not telling who, I've probably said too much already, but it did not surprise me because this certain someone seemed very suspicious to me from the start.

Anyway, I really liked all the different supernatural creatures from mythology and fairy tales, as the blurb mentioned. The book had some fantastic descriptions, and very fun, diverse characters. I cannot wait to see what will happen to Thomas and his grandfather next!

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a comment! :)
