Who will be left after lights out?
Tag, you’re it…
It’s 4:00 a.m. when they come for me. I am already awake, strung out on the fear that they will come, and the fear that they won’t. When I finally hear the click of the latch on the dormitory door, I have only a second to brace myself before—
At Cate's isolated boarding school, Killer is more than a game—it’s an elite secret society. Members must avoid being “Killed” during a series of thrilling pranks, and only the Game Master knows who the “Killer” is. When Cate’s finally invited to join the Assassins’ Guild, she know it’s her ticket to finally feeling like she belongs.
But when the game becomes all too real, the school threatens to shut it down. Cate will do anything to keep playing and save the Guild. But can she find the real assassin before she’s the next target?
I loved this author’s other series, Undead, but the funny thing is that I didn’t even realize it was the same author, not until I actually got this book in my hands! Lol. Finding out I’ve read and loved one of this author’s series made me even more excited to read this! And overall, I really liked it!
I love mysteries and this one was really fun and intriguing! I mean, you have this game going on where a group of select students “kill” each other via pranks. It’s fun, right? Yeah, until another killer pops up and starts to literally kill people!
“We have two Killers, the one playing within the rules of the Game, and the rogue.”
Who’s doing it? Why are they doing it? Well, let me tell you why... well, okay, I won’t tell you why ‘cause, you know, spoilers. But I will tell you this: the “plot twists” in this book were cliched AF! It’s why I guessed way ahead of time the ‘who’ and the ‘why.’ It’s a shame, really, ‘cause I loved everything else about this book! I particularly loved the setting of this book. Of course, I typically love these boarding school type of settings.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one! The mystery was intriguing enough to keep me entertained, even though the pay off was meh. I say, if you like mysteries, maybe you want to give this one a try.
Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a link to your review or comment below! :)
