Synopsis:

The only thing worse than being a witch is living with one.

Camellia’s adopted mother wants Cam to grow up to be just like her. Problem is, Mom’s a seriously wicked witch.

Cam’s used to stopping the witch’s crazy schemes for world domination. But when the witch summons a demon, he gets loose—and into Devon, the cute new boy at school.

Now Cam’s suddenly got bigger problems than passing Algebra. Her friends are getting zombiefied. Their dragon is tired of hiding in the RV garage. For being a shy boy-band boy, Devon is sure kissing a bunch of girls. And a phoenix hidden in the school is going to explode on the night of the Halloween Dance.

To stop the demon before he destroys Devon’s soul, Cam might have to try a spell of her own. But if she’s willing to work spells like the witch...will that mean she’s wicked too?

My rating: ★★★★☆

Seriously Wicked was a fun, light-hearted, cute, quirky read with a good dose of magic thrown in! And you all know how much I love me some magical, witchy reads! I loved this book’s take on witches—the whole magical aspect was really cool and well explained. Plus, it has a super cute cover that is actually what caught my attention in the first place!

I really liked the story of how Cam is always thwarting her adopted mother’s plans to take over the world...

clever little witch

All while trying to save the cute boy Devon from the demon now residing inside him, this thanks to one the evil witch’s evil schemes. I loved Cam and I commend her for finding a way to juggle her crazy, magical home life with her school/social life.

"When you're enslaved to a wicked witch, you end up thinking fast to keep all the weird witchy things a secret. Not always good fast, but fast."
Celeste patted my shoulder. "Always good to see you, love. Bring your aunt in here sometime, will you? From the sound of her recipes over the years, I've always thought we must have a lot in common."
"Right, Definitely. Any Day now. Just as soon as she gets back from her trip to Nepal. And gets over the chicken pox. And her fear of grocery stores. And learns how to speak English. Very soon now..."
Mr. Rourke: "[Your aunt] is quite charming, you know. Why haven't we seen her around here more often?"
Cam: "She's been in Nepal. She's not that charming once you get to know her. She's busy trying to overthrow the government. She's shy. She's frightened. She's frightening."

It was just insane! I don’t know how Cam puts up with Sarmine and her sh*t. Because this is Cam, basically:

thing with witches... not real fans

I also really liked Cam’s quirky friend Jenah—she was a lot of fun! And Devon I liked as well. I felt so bad for the predicament he found himself in! It must’ve been awful to be possessed by a demon!

creepy Brendon

The romance wasn’t very prominent in the book, but I was totally okay with it because when it did turn up, it was just very sweet!

And while the ending was very satisfying, the big reveal as to how Cam ended up with her adopted mother Sarmine wasn’t very surprising to me. In fact, it was glaringly obvious and Cam was just too blind and stubborn to see the truth.

Overall, though, I enjoyed this read immensely! I really liked this world and it’s portrayal of magic and witches! Plus, I enjoyed the sprinkling of other magical creatures, like the dragon! Seriously Wicked was a fast read with many laugh-out-loud moments I really enjoyed!

"Why did my life suck so hard? Flunking algebra, falling for a demon-boy, and finally, smothered to death by a rabid pumpkin."

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a link to your review or comment below! :)
