Synopsis:
Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.
By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire student on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.
As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.
Major spoilers!! I’m warning you beforehand: do not click ‘Show Spoiler’ unless you’re absolutely sure about it…got it? lol
Loved this book! It was actually really different than any other book I’ve read. Plus, it was very twisty and I love a good mystery! Just how I like my books :) Oh, and I forgot to mention that there was a lot of humor! I don’t know how that slipped my mind; I love a good laugh!!
For casting a spell and almost getting caught, Sophie (who is a half-witch) is sent off to a boarding school, Hecate Hall (Hecate is the Greek goddesses of magic. And yes, I am a total nerd when it comes to mythology :P) AKA Hex Hall. As you can see, this is no ordinary boarding school. It’s a boarding school for Prodigium…witches, faeries, and shape shifters, in other words.
But oh boy, does she have a bad first day! To start off, she pisses off a werewolf. Next, she might be having a crush on a warlock (Archer) who is totally gorgeous but out of reach. And she has three witches as enemies, and one of them being Archer’s girlfriend. There’s a ghost following her around, and, I almost forgot…Jenna, Sophie’s roommate and only vampire in the school is the most hated person there. But she’s the only person who apparently does like Sophie, so she doesn’t see why they don’t like her…
Until students start getting hurt, and everything is pointing a Jenna. Why, well because they are being drained of blood. But Sophie is certain that Jenna has nothing to do with it. So if it’s not her, then who is doing this?
And like any good book, it had to end with a cursed cliffhanger!!! Gah!! How I hate them -_- Can’t wait to see how Sophie deals with everything, though.
Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a comment! :)
Sounds like this one has a great paranormal cast.
