Synopsis: ASSISTANT WANTED: Notorious, high-ranking villain seeks loyal, levelheaded assistant for unspecified office duties, supporting staff for random mayhem and terror, and other Dark Things In General. Discretion a must. Excellent benefits.
With ailing family to support, Evie Sage's employment status isn't just important, it's vital. So when a mishap with Rennedawn’s most infamous Villain results in a job offer―naturally, she says yes. No job is perfect, of course, but even less so when you develop a teeny crush on your terrifying, temperamental, and undeniably hot boss. Don’t find evil so attractive, Evie.
But just when she’s getting used to severed heads suspended from the ceiling and the odd squish of an errant eyeball beneath her heel, Evie suspects this dungeon has a huge rat…and not just the literal kind. Because something rotten is growing in the kingdom of Rennedawn, and someone wants to take the Villain―and his entire nefarious empire―out.
Now Evie must not only resist drooling over her boss but also figure out exactly who is sabotaging his work…and ensure he makes them pay.
After all, a good job is hard to find.
This book was so fun! I loved it a whole lot more than I was expecting!

I loved Evie! The way she was so unbothered by everything going on around her 😂 And the Villain being surprised at how she took everything in stride and didn't run out screaming because of the evil things he did. Lol. At one point, Evie even chastised herself for finding it attractive when her boss was torturing someone 🤣 In Evie's defense, though, her boss, villain or not, WAS incredibly attractive 😏

Not only was he physically attractive with his freaking dimple 😍, but he was honestly not as evil as he claims to be. Lol. He was very protective of Evie, which was 🥰 And he was also thoughtful in a way I didn't expect. Plus, there were just these little quirks about him that made him so endearing. Like the fact that he likes an inordinate amount of sugar in his coffee. Lol. I don’t know why, but I just thought that was so freaking cute! 😆
Omg, and then the sexual tension... I loved it so much! I love a slow burn romance! And this is going to sound weird coming from me, someone who doesn't read a lot of romance books, but I wouldn't have minded MORE romance in this book 😆
I just really enjoyed this book. I was only like 60 pages in, and I was hooked! There was something that was just really addicting about this book. This book is what I like to call a popcorn read: it's no literary masterpiece, but it was FUN! And it was hilarious, which was bad news for me, as I tend to read in public a lot 😆 But the banter between the characters was so fun, and it had a bunch of cliches that I would normally find annoying, but they just really worked for me in this book. And on top of all that, this book had an actual plot aside from the romance! It had so many insane plot twists I did not see coming, and I really appreciated that. Plus, the characters had depth, too.
This was just a very enjoyable read.
