Synopsis:

Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose...

It’s winter break at St. Vladimir’s, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy’s crawling with Guardians—including Rose’s hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn’t bad enough, Rose’s tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason’s got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa’s head while she’s making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy’s not taking any risks... This year, St. Vlad’s annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price...

My rating: ★★★★☆

After a Strigoi attack (which Rose and Dimitri witnessed the aftermath of), the school goes under extreme lock down with extreme security. I know, its extreme! lol. The school is packed with guardians...including Rose's famous mother O.O Yeah, that was as interesting as it sounds, lol. I know they don't get along...but whoa! Anyway, to keep students extra safe, they decided to go to a ski resort place for winter break. If they only knew what would happen...

A few students, including Mason (love him!), Mia (yeah, surprise, surprise), and Mason's friend Eddie, decide to take matters into their own hands by going after the Strigoi (in Spokane, WA...I was there last weekend O.O Yikes!) themselves since the adults seemed to be doing nothing. Pretty stupid, huh? Rose thought so too, which is why she decided to go after them. Plus, she feels a little guilty because Mason really likes her and she's tried really hard to love him back the way he loves her since its impossible for her to be with Dimitri. Which I find hard to understand because I absolutely love Mason! Oh, and did I mention that Rose gets help from Christian? Who would've thought such thing was possible? lol. But they actually make a great team, even though they don't like each other. Their plan: find Mason and the rest before they run into any Strigoi and get them back to the ski place. If only it was as easy as it sounded...

I really liked this book. The series has a very good story line, even though I cried like a baby when...when...I cant say it again! Its just sooooo sad! Anyway, cant wait for book 3!
