Synopsis:
Dru Anderson has what her grandmother called “the touch.” (Comes in handy when you’re traveling from town to town with your dad, hunting ghosts, suckers, wulfen, and the occasional zombie.)
Then her dad turns up dead—but still walking—and Dru knows she’s next. Even worse, she’s got two guys hungry for her affections, and they’re not about to let the fiercely independent Dru go it alone. Will Dru discover just how special she really is before coming face-to-fang with whatever—or whoever— is hunting her?
My father went way-out wack after my mom died and now he travels around hunting things that go bump in the night... --Dru
Basically this:
But now Dru's dad is also dead... err, undead.
Does this sound familiar to anyone else?? It's basically Supernatural, in book form! I was shocked to see so many similarities between the show and this book. It was crazy!
I was kind of confused about her abilities, I mean she and her dad obviously knew she had some special abilities, but they are never really explained! Not until we find out what this "something different about her" is. We were never explained the extent of her powers. We were just kind of... shown, a little.
And then the thing with her mom's death... so much like Supernatural! That and her dad's death, the hunting, Dru's own powers... just add a sibling and we got the Winchesters! *sigh*
Even though I felt like I was reading Supernatural, I did enjoy the read! I loved the world that was created, all the interesting creatures. I loved the relationship between Dru and Graves, as well, and seeing how great a friend Graves turned out to be. I thought it was very sweet. The story was interesting enough, but more than a bit predictable.
I'm really looking forward to see where this story will be going next! Let's just hope Supernatural will be left a show and the plot line of the book will transform into something more original.
Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a link to your review or comment below! :)
