Synopsis:
What if a killer took control of you?
Vee Bell’s gift (or curse) of “sliding”—slipping into the mind of another person and experiencing life, briefly, through his or her eyes—has been somewhat under control since she unwillingly witnessed the horrific deaths of her classmates six months ago.
But just as things are getting back to normal, Vee has a very bizarre experience: she loses consciousness and finds herself in a deserted area, at the edge of a cliff, with the broken body of the boy who took advantage of her on the rocks below.
As Vee finds herself in stranger and stranger situations with no memory of getting there, she begins to suspect that someone she knows has the ability to slide—and that this “slider” is using Vee to exact revenge on his or her enemies.
I read Slide a while ago, but I remember loving it and its concept. I mean, it’s just such a cool power! That being said, I don’t know why it took me so long to read this, but I loved it as well!
First of all, the plot of this series is very intriguing. We know Vee slides into other people and can see what they see, even control their actions. But now someone is sliding into Vee and controlling her! Hello, we got another Slider in the vicinity! But wait, the person sliding into Vee is, you know, using her to push people off cliffs and things like that ... no biggie. *sarcasm* And to top it all off, it seems like they’re trying to kill Vee, too, yikes!
The whole mystery of who this new slider was and what they wanted kept me hooked all the way to the end! I never would’ve guessed who the culprit might be—I was taken completely off guard when we finally found out. It was SO surprising, and yet... what’s the word I'm looking for? Anticlimactic, yeah, that’s it. It’s so hard to explain without spoiling things, but I was majorly disappointed. Here I thought it was going to be an excited thing, someone out to get Vee for one crazy reason or another...
As far as the characters go, I love Vee and her best friend Rollins! Rollins... he is such a sweet guy! *swoon*
Overall, I really enjoyed Impostor. It had a very intriguing mystery (even though the plot twist at the end there was anticlimactic) and interesting story.
