Synopsis: A senior year goodbye morphs into carnival carnage...

Everyone at Pritchett High wants an invitation to the Senior Scavenge, and this year, Violet Warren and her friends are the lucky ones. Eight girls will break into the Poison Apple Carnival after hours for a scavenger hunt, a school tradition to welcome the best and brightest into their senior year.

But warm welcomes turn into gory goodbyes as those hunting become the hunted. One by one, Violet's friends are viciously murdered by a mysterious masked figure running loose through the carnival grounds.

Can Violet survive this roller coaster ride from hell and unmask the killer in time?

Or will her head end up on a cotton candy pike?

My rating: ★★★⯪☆

I loved the premise of this book! I especially loved the setting!

The Poison Apple Carnival was Belldam's premier Halloween-themed year-round tourist attraction for families.

It was just so fun having a slasher set in a carnival! Plus, the setting made for some pretty cool kills. Loved that! Unfortunately, I didn’t love much else about this book 😅

Right from the prologue, I disliked all of the characters. That, coupled with the fact that a big chunk of the beginning was nothing but gossip and flashbacks to things I just didn’t care about 😭

And to top it off, the book was just predictable. The ending? Saw it coming. The motive? Stupid. How about you take some accountability for your actions, huh? And the ending just in general draaaged on.

But all that being said, I didn’t hate this. It was... fine 🤷‍♀️ Yes, it was predictable and the characters were very unlikable, but that almost made me enjoy it more when the characters started getting killed (in some very cool, creative ways, no less lol) 😆 It was very satisfying. Lol. And I’ll give it this: it was quite funny! There was a lot of dark humor and sarcasm, and I really liked that. Lol.

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a link to your review or comment below! 😊
