Synopsis:

After being sent back from the light, Alona Dare - former homecoming queen, current Queen of the Dead - finds herself doing something she never expected: working. Instead of spending days perfecting her tan by the pool (her typical summer routine when she was, you know, alive), Alona must now cater to the needs of other lost spirits. By her side for all of this - ugh - “helping of others” is Will Killian: social outcast, seer of the dead, and someone Alona cares about more than she’d like.

Before Alona can make a final ruling on Will’s “friend” or “more” status, though, she discovers trouble at home. Her mom is tossing out Alona’s most valuable possessions, and her dad is expecting a new daughter with his wicked wife. Is it possible her family is already moving on? Hello! She’s only been dead for two months! Thankfully, Alona knows just the guy who can put a stop to this mess.

Unfortunately for Alona, Will has other stuff on his mind, and Mina, a young (and beautiful) seer, is at the top of the list. She’s the first ghost-talker Will’s ever met—aside from his father—and she may hold answers to Will’s troubled past. But can she be trusted? Alona immediately puts a check mark in the “clearly not” column. But Will is - ahem - willing to find out, even if it means leaving a hurt and angry Alona to her own devices, which is never a good idea.

Packed with romance, lovable characters, and a killer cliffhanger, Queen of the Dead is the out-of-this-world sequel to The Ghost and the Goth.
My rating: ★★★★☆

After being sent back from the light (seriously, who does that happen to?? Oh right..), Alona is stuck helping Will and the ghosts who have “unfinished business.” But during one of their missions, they run into another seers, just like Will O.O Alona doesn’t like this at all (remember how Will and Alona might or might not be having a thing?). Will seems to be super curious about this other girl. He says they are just friends and that he just need to know more about his ghostly ability, but Alona doesn’t know if he should believe him.

While Will is doing this, Alona is on the verge of having a major melt down. Her mother is getting rid of all the things in Alona’s room; her dad and stepmother are expecting a baby girl...they’re all moving on!! Alona feels the need to remind them that she was once alive. She thinks that it’s too early for them to “forget” her. She’s only ben dead, what, two months? She needs Will’s help to send them a message, but he refuses to help her out. Alona isn’t left with much choices, and it’s not like she can go up to them and talk this out...she is a ghost after all. But there is one other person who might be able to help her...

They’ve got so many problems on the line, that its putting their relationship on the edge. It’s something I don’t want to see!! I love their relationship! And it makes me sad to think that they might not be able to be together again :(

I absolutely loved the first book, and I was just the tiniest bit disappointed with this one. It wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, but it was still a very good read.

And of course, it just had to end in one of the cursed cliffhangers!! Man do I hate those!! Can’t wait for book three! :D
