Welcome to my stop on the Spellbound Blog Tour! I am so happy to have Nikki Jefford guest post on my blog today...I'm a big fan of Entangled and am super excited to read Duplicity! But today we're going to be taking a look at the 3rd book in the series, titled Enchantment.
If you’re following this tour, you may have noticed I like to find connections between myself and my tour hosts. With Liliana I found three. We both live in Washington state, love witches, and adore the color purple.
Now that Spellbound is in its third and final week of touring, I’d like to share the inspiration behind book three: Enchantment. Namely: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, (season 4, episode 9) “Something Blue” when Buffy and Spike are “in love” after one of Willow’s spells goes awry. (Don’t you just love how that happens with magic?)
For anyone not familiar with Buffy, she and Spike are mortal enemies who suddenly start planning their wedding when a spell inadvertently gets cast. It’s hilarious and highly entertaining. Plus I love Spike. Angel’s too moody for me.
In Enchantment, a love spell is placed over Graylee Perez sending her heart in a tailspin over her adversary Adrian Montez.
In this case, Gray is the only one under the spell and no, it is not cast by Adrian, which is the heartbreaking part because he knows it’s not real. One of my favorite scenes so far occurs after the spell takes hold of Gray and she goes looking for Adrian in one of the clubs in Barcelona. Adrian has no idea at this point that she’s under a spell.
(Note: This passage may change slightly after it goes through my copy editors.)
Adrian was drowning in halter tops, high heels and skin – soft feminine skin. Three beauties shimmy, shaking all up and down his body. Nothing mattered at the moment. And then he saw those eyes – like a beacon through the fog.
Graylee Perez.
And she looked pissed. She always looked pissed when she looked at him.
She stormed up to the cluster he’d melted into and snapped her fingers three times. The women around him cried out when their clothing turned to men’s trousers and T-shirts.
Laughter erupted a few feet away when three young men ended up in halter tops and miniskirts. The women scattered like fireworks exploding right before they faded into the night sky. Gray stormed up to him. Adrian was too far gone to care. He chuckled as though amused by her show. He may have even clapped. “I’m surprised you didn’t put them in strait jackets.”
Gray seemed to relax a fraction. She smiled slightly. “Yeah, well I only have a fifty foot radius to go on so…” She shrugged.
“I’m surprised you didn’t put me in one,” Adrian said. He winked at her and flashed her a smile that would surely get him slapped. He welcomed it. Not like he’d feel it anyway. He was flying high on club potion.
But Adrian doesn’t get slapped. Quite the opposite.

If you’re wondering why this post is called “Something Purple”, it will make more sense if you check out the Enchantment Cover Reveal at Unputdownable Books (my designer’s book review site) on Thursday, June 7.

- Evil Eye Amulet and Bracelet: In Duplicity, Gray wears an evil eye pendant, also known as a nazar, to protect herself from a spell that’s causing havoc over the witches and warlocks in her coven. The evil eye (a Turkish amulet) is used for both luck and protection against envy.
- Two Headed Quarter: Two Grays are better than none and two heads are better than one, especially when flipping over who gets to choose which movie to watch with a trick coin. Adrian returns in Duplicity and opens a magic shop.
