Synopsis:
Rafael Angelos just got handed the greatest gift any teenage boy could ever dream of. Upon arriving at his new boarding school for senior year, he discovered that he is the ONLY male student. But what should have been a godsend isn't exactly heaven on Earth.
Raffi's about to learn that St. Mary's is actually a hub for demons-and that he was summoned to the school by someone expecting him to save the day. Raffi knows he's no angel-but it's pretty hard to deny that there's some higher plan at work when he wakes up one morning to discover a glowing circle around his head.
No Angel was so much fun! I cannot believe I didn’t read it sooner! I LOVED it!
So, our main character Rafael has decided that he wants to go to his mom’s old all-girl boarding school, this being the first year to open up to boys. But much to Raf’s surprise, upon arrival he finds out that he’ll be the only male in attendance! What starts out as a dream for any guy out there soon turns into a nightmare when things get a little weird from there... a glowing halo, wings, and then more freaking wings! What?! It turns out that Rafael Angelos is a freaking angel! Well, part angel, anyway. And wouldn’t you have it, there are demons roaming around the school, what a coincidence! (Not really, lol.) So, Raf is appointed not only a guardian angel, but a demon hunter as well. Only, there’s more to the situation than he could possibly imagine...
I LOVED Raf, especially ‘cause he reminded me a lot of Leo from the Heroes of Olympus :) He was an awesome main character. Plus, I loved the male 1st person POV! We don’t get a lot of that in YA, so that was a nice change. The voice he gave the book just worked so well.
There was a bit of romance going on… maybe? It was a little iffy most of the time and kind of confusing. Though I mostly suspect that it wasn’t really attraction but that Raf just felt protective over Faith. Also, acknowledgement of NO insta-love! Thank you very much! You know me so well ;)
"But... we haven’t known each other for very long. True love takes time, time and trust. It means getting to know someone on the inside, how they think and feel. We haven’t had that." –Faith
Guys, THIS! This is what I’m talking about! *sigh* I love this book :) Anyway, the romance got a little cleared up at the end, so I'm glad for that.
I also enjoyed learning about the angels and their ranks. I've never really been into angels all that much, but I really liked that aspect in this book. And the plot twists... oh boy! There were many plot twist, most of which I did not see coming. I loved it! But I’m so sad No Angel is just a standalone because it’s simply so good! I would’ve loved to read more of this world and more Raf. But if I’m being honest with myself, it works as a standalone. The ending wrapped up all the loose ends very nicely.
I have no real complaint about this book. It was just SO much fun and so funny! I highly recommend this one!
