I have nothing going on this Halloween weekend, and then I saw Jane's readathon post on All She Wrote, and I thought that would be a fun thing to do! The funny thing is that she was inspired to do a readathon after she saw me do a readathon a couple weeks ago... and now here I am! 😂 It's a never-ending cycle of readathons, and I'm okay with that 🤣
I know I've mentioned it before, but I love a readathon! Especially right now, when I'm struggling to read, because they really hold me accountable and force me to read. Which would usually be a bad thing, but I'm already in a reading slump, so how much worse can it get ðŸ˜
But anyway, this readathon caught my attention because of the spooky theme, hence why I thought it would be perfect to do during Halloween weekend. You can check out the full video here! (And yes, I am going to be celebrating Spooky Season until the weekend because I'm Mexican and in my opinion Spooky Season doesn't end until Dia de Los Muertos does 😆)
The other thing that caught my attention about this readathon was the board game! I love a bookish board game! I actually make one each quarter of the year for this group I help moderate on Goodreads! Lol. But anyway, this one is different than what I'm used to because you can literally start anywhere you want, and it can basically be never-ending... or at least until your readathon timer is up. Lol. (There are also two different board games you can pick from, but I obviously went with the spooky one. Lol.) At the time of writing this on Thursday, I have not picked where I want to start. That's future me's problem 😆
Speaking of time, this readathon is not joking when it says RELAX & Read-athon. It is very relaxed when it comes to time. The creator of this challenge said it can be 24 hours long, a week, or even longer! It is literally up to you! I love that! So I thought I would make this a 72-hour challenge, Friday-Sunday.
My goal for this challenge is to finish one book a day... hopefully. Lol. And this time I picked some short books!

Both of these are horror books I recently purchased, plus right now I'm reading a cozy mystery. But don't worry, I have a ton of other books on my immediate tbr I can choose from too. Lol.
Today I found out that there is a birthday party on Saturday... I swear, every SINGLE time I do a readathon, something like this happens 🤦♀️🤣 Luckily for me, my family knows me well and they don't bat an eye when I pull out a book at a family gathering 😆
I'm surprised I actually got up at a reasonable time this morning. Lol. I inadvertantly started the challenge last night at midnight because I stayed up reading and finishing up my cozy mystery, but after that, as I tried to go to sleep, it was nothing but tossing and turning for a while 😣 Unfotunately that seems to be my norm lately. My point being (dang adhd and tangents! Lol) that I went to sleep very late but I am shockingly up at 7am for the readathon! Lol.
As I said, I already finished a book! I unfortunately didn't love it. It was SO boring, but I didn't dnf it because I liked the premise and the town 😅 While I read for a couple hours last night, I only read about 30 minutes after midnight started.

As for the board, I decided to start on the bottom right on Favorite Beverage, and after that, I'm moving clockwise. I rolled a 5 and landed on Move 2 Spaces, then moved to Spooky Book.
I haven't made my tea quite yet. I think I'm going to read in bed for a while before I get up and shower and make me tea and all that. But I will start my Spooky Book now! I'm gonna go with this one:

I'm a little bit nervous because I'm pretty sure this is my first splatterpunk novel. But I read horror all the time and have seen some questionable horror movies, so I should be fine 😆 (From my understanding, splatterpunk refers to a book being super gory... wish me luck 😅 Lol.)
