Sunday Post #472: Book Shopping in Portland!

Welcome to The Sunday Post hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer, where I talk about what is going on in life and the blog, and show you all the bookish things I got that week!

What I've been doing:

UGHHHH. A week ago, I was in Portland and I had the best time! I come back home to work and it's nothing but stress and me on the verge of quitting. But it's stuff that is out of my control, so let's talk about Portland instead. It's more pleasant 😂

I love Portland and I hate what is happening down there right now politically. I'll tell you this: It was peaceful and everybody was so nice! The main reason we went was because of Powell's, which we went to last year, and I loved it! Powell's, for those of you who may not know, is the largest new and used indie bookstore in the world! It is nothing but three stories of books 😍 We visited two Powell's, a couple of Barnes and Nobles, and we also explored some of the city.

We stayed in an Air B&B and it was so relaxing 😌 We watched a bunch of spooky/comforting movies and TV shows, had lots of good food (got some Voodoo Doughnut!)...

I also went to my very first conveyor belt sushi place and it was SO good! We came back last Sunday, which is why I missed a post that day lol, but that morning before we started our trip back, we went to this French cousine restaurant for some breakfast and it was SO good! (It's called Petite Provence!)

At the main Powell's I got this really comfy hoodie, and at a secondary Powell's I got these super cute book earrings (a gift for a cousin who is a librarian lol)!

And in this B&N bag is ALL the books I bought during the trip... it was filled to the very top 🫣

From there, I also got this cute Halloween watercolor kit, which I actually used yesterday to paint with my patient (yes, I worked 6 days this week 😭 I hate my life 😭 I don't, I'm just being dramatic. Lol. I'm also already planning some spooky trips for this month because the STRESS omg).

What I've been watching:

Tbh I don't remember what all I watched 😅 We watched some horror movies, we watched A LOT of Charmed (I love Charmed!), and at home I've been watching the latest season of SWAT, and I'm also still rewatching Bones.

What I've been playing:

Onto some Sims! I've been playing a lot in my Super Sim save ever since I finally finished her house. But this is what's been happening:

She had like 3 different deaths in her small business! It was crazy! And the fact that this poor, dying sim, after the class finished, left her a good review... that's even crazier! Lol.

Alongside having her run a small business, I was also having her work on all the arts and crafts skills and aspirations, including pottery! She made this tea set and she filled it with tea for her customers every day before she opened!

But she was working so hard that one day when her mom called asking if she wanted to hang out, I said why not. So here she is at a bar dancing and drinking with her mom and uncle. (Her mom is a spellcaster and her uncle is a vampire lol).

Here is one of the other sims who died in her business 🤦‍♀️😂 This one died of cardiac explosion which happens when they get extremely angry. Why was she angry? No clue. But she's dead now. Lol.

So, Lacey, my Super Sim, is super rich (pun intended 😆). That's just what happens when she has a million jobs that she's always good at. Lol. Anyway, because of that, when she was running the small business, there really weren't any fees for coming in because she just didn't need the money. However, at the end of one day, this review popped up telling me that while customers love the quality of the stuff she provides, she should try lowering the prices. BRO, I am literally LOSING money. What more do you want from me?? 🤣🤣 Anyway, after another hard day at work, I had her go to the spice festival, where she entered the spicy challenge thing, where she won this crazy shirt! I have never seen it before! 😂

After she completed all the craft and small business stuff, I had her move on to more nature-y things! Here she is peeing in a bush to raise her natural living skill 😂 And then she met Spruce Almighty who came with the fairy pack. Lol. I'm having fun with this save. Right now I have her vacationing in Selvadorada where she is going to work on archeology!

Also, the new Forever Friends rewards event started and it's been pretty fun so far!

I always use the WinterRose family in a different save for these events. And since this event is more child-inspired, I am using Daisy to complete the quests!

She's so cute! I love her! (Also, that cotton candy is bigger than her head 🤣)

She went to the park for one of the quests, and she met her grandpa there! I didn't realize they hadn't met before 😅

She's so cute! 😭 I love all these interactions with the stuffed animal.

One of the optional tasks was to get a cat, so we got a cat! I love that the cat is sleeping in the kid's play tent 😂

I didn't play very much of the Very Veggie challenge these last two weeks, but two big things that happened were that the husband of my carrot gen, the hot cowboy, died 😭 And also, my potato gen baby (grandkid of the carrot gen) aged up into a toddler!

The new Adventure Awaits pack just came out last week, and while I haven't bought it yet, I most definitely will because it has a lot of really cool features! I'm excited to try it out!

Book Haul

Purchased:

This is my book haul from Portland 😅 I may have overdone it. Lol.

These 3 books I bought from a B&N. I specifically wanted this special edition of The Court of the Dead. Look at the fun sprayed edges! Also, I'm very excited to have book 2 of Dungeon Crawler Carl! The first book was really fun!

When we went into the main Powell's, the one that is three stories, I swear I blacked out because I ended up buying SEVEN books from there 😅😭 I keep telling myself that it's fine because I don't buy myself many books since I use my library a lot 🤣

Then, a couple days later, we went to a secondary Powell's location and I found this book! It's the sequel to a book I had bought at the original Powell's a couple days prior, and since it was signed, I decided to get it! It sounds like such a fun series!

For Review:

And just a couple days ago, I got this in my email! Ah! I'm so excited to be back in the Space Janitor world with Vanti! I love Vanti! (Also, the next book in the main Space Janitor series is being written right now, and from what the author has said, it's going to have a time loop and I am SO freaking excited! I love a Groundhog Day trope!)
