Synopsis:

Fresh from finding out that she is a demon princess, fighting her aunt for her life, and rescuing her father from being poisoned, Nikki Donovan is looking forward to getting back to her regular high school life. But when Rhys, the handsome king of the faery realm, decides to show up at her school as a "foreign exchange student," Nikki knows this won't be possible. Couple with this a whole host of other problems: there's a new prophecy that claims she will destroy everyone. Her conflicted feelings for Rhys and her boyfriend, Michael, are getting in the way of their relationship. Her best friend Melinda just might be a demon-slayer-in-training, and her old crush Chris might know of her demon side. Throw in a field trip to none other than Hell itself … and Nikki's going to be hoping for a rain check on more than just her homework!

My rating: ★★★★☆

"A week ago. I was a normal, boring teenager.

Then I met my father for the first time and found out he was a demon. And not just any demon: he was also the king of another dimension, called the Shadowlands.

Which made me a princess--a demon princess.

So very not normal."
-Nikki

After saving her dad and his kingdom, Nikki goes back to the human world, knowing that the Shadowlands are now safe once again. What Nikki doesn't expect is to find the faerie king, Rhys, enrolled in her high school... all because of a prophecy. Said prophecy states that Nikki will be the destroyer of worlds. Kind of hard to believe, right? The demon council are nervous about this prophecy and ask Nikki to come to the Underwolrd just for a "chat." They want to see what this demon princess is really about, and see if she is really capable of destroying worlds. Her trip down to the Underworld takes a nasty turn when her life is put in danger and Michael does something crazy that lands him in trouble.

Annoying faerie kings, crazy prophecies, nerve-wracking trips to the underworld, and a forbidden love with a Shadow... how is Nikki supposed to deal with all this while at the same time trying to control her newly found demon powers??

I am seriously enjoying this series! It's so much fun to read, with a whole ton of action and crazy turns that will leave you speechless and break your heart. I ADORE Michael and I just cannot get enough of him! And then there's Rhys... I don't absolutely dislike him, but I'm really hating the feel of the beginning of a love triangle! I really, really, dislike love triangles -_-

Another thing is the deal with Melinda. There was some foreshadowing in the last book that was glaringly obvious to me, and this book just confirmed my suspicions about her. But it took Nikki almost half of this book to put two and two together, when I saw things come from a mile away... or in this case, from a whole book away. It's very disappointing that this series is so predictable because, as I said, I like being surprised.

However, some very shocking things happened when Michael and Nikki went down to the Underworld, and I think that made up a little bit for the whole predictable Melinda thing. This book definitely kept me hooked, especially when they were in the Underworld and things were just very tense.

This book, like the last, kept me hooked and wanting more of Nikki and Michael. I really love this story, the new magical creatures we came across, and just the whole world Michelle has created!

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a comment! :)
