Synopsis:

Prophesies, demon slayers, dragons, homework... It's going to be a hell of a week! It's been a dangerous ride for Nikki Donovan since she first learned she's a demon princess. And the ride isn't over yet! She's just found out that her best friend is a demon slayer in training, one who doesn't know that Nikki is exactly the prey she's sworn to hunt. Nikki's demon king father has signed her up for lessons on how to master her erratic half-demon powers, and that's on top of her regular homework! Also, she's torn between two boys-Rhys, the faery king she's prophesied to marry, and Michael, a Shadow whom she's forbidden to love. To top it all off, a dark force is haunting Nikki, something mysterious and evil that wants the demon princess dead...but who-or what-is it?

My rating: ★★★★☆

A crazy prophecy claiming she is to marry the faerie king Rhys, a forbidden love with the yummy Shadow Michael, her BFF is a demon slayer, and Nikki still doesn't have a complete hold on her Darkling powers. To top it all off, a new prophecy says that there is something dark out to get Nikki... something that wants her dead. Nikki has more on her plate than your average teenage girl. But then again, she isn't normal. She is a Demon Princess after all.

Couple with this a whole host of other problems: there's a new prophecy that claims she will destroy everyone. Her conflicted feelings for Rhys and her boyfriend, Michael, are getting in the way of their relationship. My rating: ★★★★☆

"A week ago. I was a normal, boring teenager.

Then I met my father for the first time and found out he was a demon. And not just any demon: he was also the king of another dimension, called the Shadowlands.

Which made me a princess--a demon princess.

So very not normal."

Synopsis:

As if trying to fit in at a new school isn't stressful enough, sixteen-year-old Nikki Donovan just found out that her long-lost father is, in fact, the demon king of the Shadowlands—the world that separates and protects us from the Underworld. When she is brought there by the mysterious—and surprisingly cute—messenger Michael, she learns that her father is dying, and he wants her to assume the throne. To complicate matters, a war is brewing between the Shadowlands and the Underworld, her half-demon qualities are manifesting, and her growing feelings for Michael are completely forbidden. Ruling a kingdom, navigating a secret crush, and still making it home by curfew—what's a teenage demon princess to do?

My rating: ★★★★☆

Nikki is your average, normal teenager, dealing with normal teen stuff-- high school, crushes, and so on. But her "normal" life takes a sharp tun into Crazyville when she meets a strange, but handsome, guy named Michael. Michael claims that Nikki is a half-demon Princess, daughter of the demon king of the Shadowlands. Nikki knows virtually nothing about her dad; he left Nikki and her mom even before Nikki was born. And now some weird guys comes to tell her that not only is he still out there, but that he is a demon king? Nikki writes Michael off as crazy and tells him to leave her alone. However, weird, supernatural things start happening to her and she cant help but wonder if maybe Michael wasn't so wrong after all. Also, she cant ignore that undeniable connection she senses every time she is near Michael. Nikki finds herself thrust into a world she didn't know existed and forced to make a decision that could save or destroy her father's kingdom.

Synopsis:

For those who thirst for accounts of paranormal romance, Trisha Telep has compiled some of the most thrilling takes of forbidden love in this collection. First crushes and last rites; dark spells and bright magic; forbidden lovers and enchanted beings -- and always, always the hungry games of desire. Pucker up for a darkly sweet collection of ghosts, shape shifters, fairies, unicorns, vampires, and demons in tales from today's biggest writers of the paranormal persuasion.

My rating: ★★★☆☆

Can I just start off by saying that this was (excruciatingly) long, lol! I thought I was never going to finish it! And I will admit, the only reason I picked up this book was because of Rachel Vincent's story takes place in the Soul Screamers world. And if you care to know, she is one of my favorite authors :)

1. The Assassin's Apprentice by Michelle Zink (3 stars): This was a pretty good story, but nothing that impressed me. It was about this girl seeking revenge on a demon after he killed her parents. She eventually does get what she wants with the help of Apprentice.

2. Errant by Diana Peterfund (2 stars): Apparently this story takes place in the world of the series Killer Unicorns. I have not read that series so I thought it was a bit weird, and, truthfully, I didn't really capture my attention.

3. The Spirit Jar by Karen Mahoney (4 stars): This was one of my favorites! And there is another story about Moth in the book The Eternal Kiss: 13 Vampire Tales of Blood and Desire.

Moth is a vampire and she is on a mission to retrieve a book for her creator. Sounds easy, right? If only it were...

Familiar is a stand alone 10,000 word young adult short story, originally published in the “Kiss Me Deadly” anthology.

My rating: ★★★★★

Brenda is a witch...and not a very good one at that. Why? Because she just isn't interested in practicing witchcraft like her very talented mother. but to get her insisting mother off her back, she decides to give it a try. First things first, she must pick out a familiar...a witch's pet who will keep her company and help her with magic. Only she doesn't realize that the cute, little , striped kitten she chooses is a actually a shifter in hiding (Owen, who i like to call a werecat even though he prefers shapeshifter :P)
