I adore Jennifer’s work and am incredibly sad that this series has come to an end. But, at the same time I was also very excited start it and find out how it ends.
Lila lives in Cloudburst Falls, an enchanting tourist town full of magic and monsters. But the worst monster of all is Victor, head of the Draconi Family. It’s his mission in life to take over all the other families. In fact, he’s slowly been gathering Black Blades and hiding them in a secret room for when he eventually makes his move on the other families. But Lila can’t, and won’t, let that happen. After so long, Lila has finally found a home, a family, working with the Sinclairs. She cannot let Victor take that away from her--not again. Not after he murdered Lila’s mother in cold blood.
I loved this so hard, you don’t even know! I just love Jennifer’s work! She is definitely a favorite author! And I am so sad that this is over ‘cause I loved this world so much! It was such an imaginative place with its cute creatures, other creepy monsters, and mob families with these amazing and unique powers. You know I love me a good power, and Lila’s powers are amazing! And her special skill of stealing is put to the ultimate test in Bright Blaze of Magic. After finding out about Victor’s little scheme, Lila gets to work on switching out the real Black Blades with fake ones. Will she succeed? Will she get caught? The tension was real, I’ll tell you that much.
Let's talk about the relationship between Lila and Devon because *swoon* Jennifer writes the most swoon-worthy love interests ever! First Logan (from Mythos Academy) and now Devon... I adore him! And he and Lila are just so sweet together! I also love how Devon doesn’t actually need Lila as a bodyguard... I just think that’s hilarious. Oh, also, Devon has a pretty freaking amazing power. I can see why they hid it from everyone.
This book, this series, was fantastic! It had a great story with a great setting and lovable characters I will miss very much! And the final battle between Lila and Victor was EPIC! It was just so insane and amazing... I cannot get over it! I highly recommend this series and basically anything that Jennifer Estep writes.
P.S. I really loved all the little Easter Eggs that were sprinkled throughout the series. It’s always fun to see little shoutouts to Jennifer’s other series.
