Dewey's Reverse Readathon: July 2025
I don't think I did a readathon AT ALL in 2024. It was honestly probably because I had a pretty good reading year overall. Lol. I tend to do readathons more when I'm struggling, as I have been this year 😆 Unfortunately, every time one of these comes around, without fail, I have something going on 😂 It's crazy! There was one in April that I wanted to do, but I wasn't able to because I was in California on vacation. Well, this readathon starts today and ends tomorrow, and I have a cousin coming into town tomorrow 😂 I'm gonna see if we can do something on Sunday instead. Lol.
So for me, where I live, this will start at 5pm TONIGHT, and it's ending tomorrow, Saturday, at 5pm. Like always, I will NOT be staying up to read. I love sleep too much 😂 But even if I didn't, my exhausted, anemic self couldn't do it anyway. Lol. I'm too tired these days 😆 But I will try to read as much as I can tonight. I'm pretty sure I could read a short book or a manga or two before the night is over.
As for updates... Idk. I used to do them on Twitter. I might do them on Threads this year? Idk. I also just joined the Goodreads group. I may just end up editing this post and doing my updates here in combination with a quick update on my Monday post.
Anyway, you can go HERE for more info on the readathon!
As for what I'll be reading... that is a very good question 😆 So I have a ton of books, manga especially, from the library, so that will be a good choice. And I'm also doing my Summer-y Fear Street re-read, and those books are super short, so again, also good choices. However, the books I really want to focus on are ARCs I've received recently:
I've got a little bit of everything here, which I don't know how it will go, me being a mood reader and all. Lol. But She Waits for You Beyond the Dark is YA horror with some Japanese mythology that I have really been looking forward to! A Touch of Treachery is by my favorite author lol, and it is an adult urban fantasy full of spies, action, and magic! Also, very excited for this one. If Looks Could Kill, I'm not too sure about. I grabbed it on a whim. Lol. All I know is that it's YA and it involves Medusa and Jack the freaking Ripper, so 👀 And last, I just got A Dragon Rider's Guide to Retirement like two days ago and I can't wait!! This is a cozy fantasy written by Julia Huni, and if you've been here any amount of time, that name may sound familiar because I devour her cozy sci-fi books like no one's business 😆 So I'm really looking forward to reading something a little bit different from her.
Friday, 6pm Update:
I started the readathon a couple of minutes late. After work, I stopped by one of my favorite Thai places to grab dinner. I got home at like 4:15pm, took a shower, ate, and finally sat down with my first book an hour later. Lol.
And there is also a bingo card! The bingo card is what inspired me to grab takeout 😆 (I also texted one of my brothers lol).
I've only read one chapter of my book so far, so I'm going to get back into it. I've also put on a reading stream in the background because I cannot stand the quiet, not even when I'm reading 😆 I'll see you in a couple hours!
Let me know if you're joining in on this readathon and what you'll be reading!
