I was never one to buy different editions of the same book, or even the same book in different formats. I thought it was pointless. But boy did things change for me. Lol. Today I wanted to share the books I own several different versions of and why I decided to buy them. Things started off pretty innocuous, but then this March things got crazy...
The first book where I decide to venture out and buy multiple versions of it was Sweet Venom. I first bought the hardcover, from Book Outlet probably, but then one day much later, the ebook version was free on Amazon and I decided to grab it. It wasn't a big deal... I didn't lose money OR space!
City of Bones and Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
The next book I got a second edition of was City of Bones. As you already know, I adore The Shadowhunter Chronicles! The Mortal Instruments is one of my all-time favorite series! Surprisingly though, I don't think I ever had the intention of buying the 10th anniversary edition of CoB even though I was aware of its existence 🙀 I was on a trip in Seattle (remember those days when we could travel and go on vacation? Good times.) when we went to a bookstore and I saw this beautiful edition with gorgeous illustrations and stunning gilded edges.
My cousin knew how much I loved this series and she convinced me to buy it, so I did! And I decided to not get rid of my original copy because I was attached to it. Who knew I would be so sentimental? Lol. Anyway, when the 10th anniversary edition of Clockwork Angel came out it was a no-brainer: I needed to buy it. I mean I already had the 10th anniversary edition of CoB, I obviously had to get CA too. Lol.
Tales from the Gas Station by Jack Townsend
Next is Tales from the Gas Station Volumes 1 and 2. I have both the ebook and the audiobook and the reason why I decided to get both is because I'm not super into audibooks because I feel like I would miss something if I don't pay close attention, so I got the ebook too to read along. And the reason why I got the audiobooks at all is because these books are based on short stories that were narrated by my favorite Creepypasta narrator! I've been listening to Mr. Creepypasta for years, and one of my favorite stories he has ever done ever is this one. So yeah. I got the audiobooks because I like the narrator, but I also got the ebooks so I could read along.
Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
So far things have been pretty tame, but then earlier this year I went insane and bought FIVE copies of Chain of Gold!
Five!
AKA me. I am the crazy person. Thanks so much Dean 🙄😂 Okay, so why? It's simple really: I am trash for them Shadowhunters and I NEEDED all the Shadowhunter goodies that were gonna be in the book boxes! Yeah, I didn't even buy these for the book, not really, more so for the other stuff that was gonna be in the boxes 😅😂 Was it worth it?
Let's take a look at all FIVE editions of the book. I am also including a picture of everything I got in all the book boxes in spoiler tags just because this post is gonna be long enough as is. There are no actual Chain of Gold spoilers because I haven't even read the book yet 🙈😂 With FIVE copies of the book you'd think I would've read it at least five times over by now 🤣
Good Choice Reading Edition
Not gonna lie, this is probably my favorite out of all them just because it's signed 😂 There is nothing else that is "special" about it... it's just the first edition of the book. Here is the rest of what came in the box:
LitJoy Crate Edition
The next book that came in is another regular first edition, BUT this one came with this really pretty book sleeve!
And here is the rest of the box:
Fairy Loot Edition
This next one is a true special edition. It's a black hardcover with gold writing and details AND the edge of the pages are black with Cortana painted on them! It is SO cool! This is one of my favorites!
Illumicrate Edition
This next special edition is a green hardcover with orange foil writing and details, and orange freaking page edges. I'm not gonna lie, I'm not crazy about the color combo, but those orange pages are pretty cool. And even though I'm not crazy about this edition, this was my favorite book box out of all of them! Here's what I got:
The Bookish Box Edition
And this last one I got is another regular edition but with a beautiful illustrated jacket of Will and Tessa's wedding!
It's SO pretty! And here is what I got in this last box (it's another of my favorite boxes):

ReplyDeleteI own multiple copies of the same book... Mostly, it's when I get the audiobook (mostly for my kid as he's a fiend) and paperback/ebook for me but sometimes it's when I grab the ebook of a physical book I own.
The only books I have multiple copies of print are Harry Potter. I have various editions of the hardbacks and the illustrated editions. (I also have the audiobooks...)
Yeah that makes sense. Harry Potter is a popular one to have multiple copies of, so I totally get it!
DeleteI don't own multiple versions of many books, but I will say that some of those special editions or book box books are amazing!!
