Synopsis:
It's Christmas time and all Mel wants to do is spend it at home with her friends. But quiet isn't in the cards when she sees a woman get murdered during the Christmas Parade. But without a body, no one believes Mel and it's up to her to prove not only that a murder took place, but who the killer is. Can she solve the mystery in time for Christmas dinner? Find out in the fifth installment of the Mellow Summers Series.
Mel and her friends are having a great time at the parade when BAM! Mel suddenly sees this woman being murdered! Mel races to the scene of the crime only to find... Absolutely nothing. No body, no killer... Nothing. So Mel sets out to solve the mystery and prove that a murder really did take place. But will she find anything? Will anyone believe her?
This was another really great mystery! I especially loved how Mel saw the murder happen yet there was no body to be found! Crazy! And I actually didn't figure out what was going on till the very end, which is how I like it! So many twists that just kept me wanting more... I actually read this in one sitting! But then again, it is really short ;)
We also get a little bit of a love-struck Jackie in this book. She falls head-over-heels in lust with some senator guy who Mel is iffy about. Mel only wants to protect her friend, but Jackie makes a huge deal out of it and the girls end up getting into a fight. It sucked, especially 'cause I also thought Jackie was being kind of blinded by "love," but at the same time we get to know the character Tammy a little more! Since Mel didn't have her usual sidekick and Tammy really, really, really wanted to help, Mel decided to let her help. But boy, this girl. She's really something! Remember the time she almost burnt down the store because she wanted to make her candle display as festive as possible by bringing in and lighting sparklers?? Yeah, not the brightest crayon in the box, but sure makes for an interesting story! Lol.
I am having so much fun with this series! Plus I really love how thrilling the plots can be! Can't wait for the next one!
