Synopsis:

Fifteen-year-old Bridget Liu just wants to be left alone: by her overprotective mom, by Matt Quinn, the cute son of a local police sergeant, and by the eerie voices she can suddenly and inexplicably hear. Unfortunately for Bridget, the voices are demons—and Bridget possesses the rare ability to banish them back to whatever hell they came from. Literally.

Terrified to tell her friends or family about this new power, Bridget confides in San Francisco's senior exorcist, Monsignor Renault, who enlists her help in increasingly dangerous cases of demonic possession. But just as she is starting to come to terms with her freakish new role, Bridget receives a startling message from one of the demons. And when one of her oldest friends is killed, Bridget realizes she's in deeper than she ever thought possible. Now she must unlock the secret to the demons' plan before someone else close to her winds up dead—or worse, the human vessel for a demon king.

My rating: ★★★★☆

Possess was a fun story about Bridget, a girl who hears demons and is able to banish them back to hell... Well, it was fun for me ;) Bridget is most definitely not a fan, lol.

demon Brendon

And to make things worse, now there’s a powerful demon threatening to come out into our plane of existence and wreak havoc on Earth, and he will need a vessel to do that. It’s up to Bridget to prevent that from happening, especially is the demon chooses someone close to her as his vessel. Dun, dun, DUN!

Overall, I very much liked this book! It had a very intriguing story with likable characters. I particularly loved the relationship between Bridget and her little brother—he was just so cute!

I'm here for you. You brave little soldier. I acknowledge your pain. You're too precious for this world! - 2x15 Tall Tales

The one thing I was kind of sad about was the fact that the main plot twist didn’t surprise me, and you know how much I dislike when that happens. You see, this book tried so hard to lead us to believe that this one person was the bad guy, when it was so glaringly obvious (to me) that this was just a distraction. So yeah, I pretty much knew who the bad guy was the whole time. The thing that did get me though was this person’s motive... holy crap!

But despite the fact that the plot twist didn’t actually do it for me, I actually did like this! It was fun and action-packed, I really liked Bridget, and I loved the mythos pertaining to this demons! It was just an interesting world to explore!
