Just another stressful week of work. Oh, I also got my iron checked again, and guess what? It's still low! 🙃 It has not moved up one bit. In fact, one lab went DOWN. Sigh. So I talked to my doctor and she wants to wait another THREE months to see how the labs are then. I was like, ma'aaaaam 🫠It's been SIX months at this point! And my iron issues have been going on longer than that, for probably years, and she wants to wait MORE and continue doing the current plan? (I have been taking iron supplements and eating an iron-rich diet, but clearly, it's not working!) You know, there's a reason why I hadn't been to the doctor in a while, and this is exactly why. Anyway, a couple months ago when my mom went to Mexico, she brought me back some iron injections and the only reason why we haven't done them yet was because we wanted to see what my labs were going to be like. I'm telling my mom to give me the damn injection this week. I'm tired of being tired, and the fact that I told the doctor that I was wanting to do something more proactive at this point and she basically ignored me was extremely dejecting. Why is finding a good doctor so hard? 😩
I think this week the only thing I've been watching is Criminal Minds. I just started season 14 yesterday!
Let's move onto something more fun and the only thing that seems to keep me sane these days 😆 I didn't play a lot of my Super Sim save this week, but when I did she had these two moodlets at the same time:

Girl, make up your mind! 😂 This week I spent most of my time in a new save where I was playing a Sims 4 bingo card!

This fun tool was just created by one of my favorite Sims Youtuber, and I really loved doing it! It was so fun! I picked the board with the least amount of squares, just to get started, shuffled the prompts, and then I created my Sim:

I gave her the traits Loves the Outdoors, Dog Lover, and Genius because I felt like those would help with everything we had to do on the board. And of course, I also had her adopt a dog!
Here she is training the dog, showing her how to play dead. It was so funny! It's been a while since I trained a pet, probably since my Super Sim's first life, which at this point was almost an IRL year ago 😂
So one of the prompts was that she needed to resurrect a pet, and I thought that maybe when her dog died I could just resurrect them. Maybe. But I know myself and I knew there was a good chance I would get attached and wouldn't want them to die and I was right! 😂 I ended up going to the pet cemetery and resurrected a random dead pet from there instead. Lol.

She earned the Skillful Sleep perk where when she sleeps an astral projection of herself works on skills which is SO cool! However, this is the first time I get this perk in any of my saves, so it's the first time I tried it, so even though I knew about the astral projection, the ghost version of my Sim still surprised me when it popped up 😂 And to get her to be abducted by aliens, I had her be in the Scientist career, and that worked like a charm. Lol.
What I like about this bingo board is that I basically used it as inspiration for a storyline. One of the prompts was that she needed to Woohoo a ghost, and another was that she needed to resurrect a ghost, so I made this ghost Sim to be her love interest!

A ghost she "randomly" meets while skiing (I mean, it wasn't super random because this was my plan lol), they hit it off and go on a date...

They are smitten with one another, and he is actually the one who asked my Sim to be partners! so it all worked out. Lol.

After some time, during one of her food sales, he shows up to show his support and she convinces him to get the ambrosia... (also, them making snow angels during one of their dates is SO freaking cute!)
And he is brought back to life! I had them get engaged, move in together, and elope. And the last thing I did to wrap up their storyline is I had them try for baby. I don't think I'll be coming back to this household, mostly because the story I wanted to tell with the bingo board is over, but also because I don't want to play with infants if I don't have to 😂 They are a pain!

I'll definitely do another bingo board though, make a new Sim, and plop them in this same save. I think that will be fun.
Last, I replayed a level of Power Wash Simulator. It was very relaxing 😌 I might do another level this week. I am still waiting for that Steam summer sale though, so I can get some more DLC 😆

#423: Something Spooky |
I requested this one from Netgalley almost on a whim because it's basically Medusa vs Jack the Ripper and I NEED to read that!! Thank you Simon & Schuster!

I love all your Sims stuff. I know I say that every week, lol. I am with you on doctors not being much help these days. And it's like I think about changing, but who knows if the new one would actually do any better. My doctor was making me come back every 3 months to check my A1C and I was tired of paying for that constantly. If I'm not having issues, then can't we just do like every 6 months or once a year like in the past? Plus she keeps trying to make me take statins and I refuse to take those with all the studies showing they are not good for you. I even printed out those scientific journal articles to give her next time I see her. lol. I have a friend who does nutrition and health, her company/practice is even called Elusive Iron because she has that issue too and has had to have injections to help with her iron. I'm lucky that she looks at my bloodwork for free as my friend and has given me some tips on what vitamins and stuff I should be taking. She even gave me a diet plan, and I'm the dummy not following it like I should be. Anyway, I hope that you are able to get that all figured out and have a good week!
ReplyDeleteThat is wild. I agree with you that if your labs are stable, you should not be going to get them as often, especially if you have to pay out of pocket. And I am very happy that your friend is able to help you with this sort of stuff! And I don't blame you at all for not sticking to the plan she gave you. Sometimes it's just hard to do! Like you want to, but either the motivation or whatever it may be, is just not there. At least that's what happens to me. Lol.
DeleteDoctors are supposed to be people who want to help you the most, not just go through the motions. It's a sad reality we live in. I hope you find a better one and soon! ❤️
ReplyDeleteThey really are. And it's such a shame that it's like this in so many places. I would like to get another doctor, but idk. I'm just so... done. They scheduled an appointment for me with her again for September. As I was writing that portion of this post this morning I actually paused to go into the app and cancel it. I don't know if I want to see her again, but I also don't know if I want to find another doctor immediately. I know I should. My iron levels are trash. But hopefully with the iron injections it will start to get better.
