Sunday Post #470: A Couple Vacation Booked

Welcome to The Sunday Post hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer, where I talk about what is going on in life and the blog, and show you all the bookish things I got that week!

What I've been doing:

Work was terrible, like always, but two VERY exciting things happened this week that just made me very happy: First, I have one trip to Portland booked for the last week of September! I am SO excited! I went to Powell's last year and I loved it! We are going again this time, and we're just gonna take some time to relax and read and explore Portland for a bit.

I just booked my plane tickets to go back to Mexico in December!! I am SO happy! They were so expensive though 😭 I was hoping to go for only two weeks, but it ended up being a little longer than that because I was NOT booking a single return ticket for $750 😭 A couple of days later than the date I wanted, they were much cheaper, so I guess I'm taking a longer vacation than I first anticipated. Oh no, that's so sad for me 😏😆

What I've been watching:

I actually watched some stuff this week! Lol. First, I finally watched The Pitt and it was SO good! It's a medical drama, but what's interesting about this one is that each episode is one hour of their 12-hour shift. It was an interesting format for sure, and I am SO excited for season two next year!

Yesterday, I also started Alien Earth. I'm not done with it yet and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet. I love Alien, and the new animated Alien movie that came out earlier this year was really good, so we will see how this show fares.

What I've been listening to:

Because I was on vacation, I got really behind on the Unlike Pluto releases, so I got caught up this week... and I discovered that his new album came out and I didn't even realize it 😭 To be fair, because he releases one new song off the album leading up to the album's release, I have technically listened to all of the album. Lol. But this week I want to go back and listen to it in its entirety, like it was meant to be listened to 😆

"The album 'Kiss Collapse' is out today with this being the final song :) This song is about the state of the world rn, am I right for thinking things seem crazy, or is my vision scarred." -Unlike Pluto

This is a collab song and it is AMAZING!

"This song is about when a falling out happens, and it seems like the other person doesn't care in the slightest. It's almost as if they were planning that all along, and knew it would happen. This is the first of weeklies back, gonna try and keep it up for this whole album :)" -Unlike Pluto

What I've been playing:

Shockingly, I didn't do a lot of playing in the Sims in live mode. I did build a lot, though, so that's what I'm going to be sharing today. These first two builds I did last week, and the last three I did THIS week. Which is shocking for me because I don't usually build this much. Lol. (Like always, you can click the images to make them bigger.)

This first cottage is for the family in the Rewards Events save file I'm playing.

Here we have the entry and the living room.

Another shot of the living room and the kitchen.

The main bedroom and bathroom.

The second bathroom and the nursery.

And in the basement, I made my Sim's husband a little area. She loves nature, but he loves technology AND his dad is from the future, so this room has a completely different vibe. I love it 😆

And in the glass room off the house is her small business where she sells wooden sculptures, floral arrangements, and candles. She also teaches all sorts of nature-related classes.

The second thing I built last week was the apartment for the squash gen of the Very Veggie challenge! It's very yellow because that's his color theme 😆

Here we have the living room and outdoor area. I love that you can immediately tell which one his apartment is from the outside because of how stark the yellow is 😆

Next, we have the office and kitchen/dining area.

Imagine sitting here for dinner with this view 😍 Then we go upstairs...

Here are the bathrooms...

The main bedroom...

And the nursery for the next generation.

Next! The first thing I built this week was an arcade. It was inspired by my squash gen and I actually put it in that save file so he can go play video games there. Lol.

This is the entrance. It has a bar and "prizes." In reality, Sims have to buy them. Lol.

In the room off to the right, we have some vending machines and games tables. And going counterclockwise, we have a room to play video games and foosball.

That same room also has these video gaming VR pad things. Lol. In the next room is card tables and a dart board.

And next to that room is a sort of classroom with a bunch of computers.

Two bathrooms off that room.

And a staff lounge off that same classroom. On the other side of the staff lounge, we have a bunch of arcade machines!

And the last room has some ping pong tables.

The next build I finally did is my Super Sim's next house! She's going to be doing all sorts of crafty things, so I needed a house where she could do that.

Here is the entryway.

The living room.

Kitchen and dining.

Bedroom and bathroom.

And in the entryway, the door to the right will lead you to this glass room where she will also have a small business.

She's gonna be doing painting, pottery, knitting, and cross-stitching. I loved how it turned out!

This last build was inspired by a restaurant I went to in Mexico called Lola de Mar. It was SO good! But I also loved how it looked. It was very open and colorful, and I knew we had a similar set of tables and chairs in the game, so I wanted to make a restaurant inspired by it.

I didn't take this picture. Lol. I got it off their Instagram. Lol.

And this is how it turned out! I love it! 😭 And I, of course, placed it in Ciudad Enamorada, which is a Mexico-inspired world.

I love how colorful it is!

Even the bathrooms are colorful! 😆

I put a little bit of colorful graffiti on the building. Lol. And okay, I did play a little. I always play-test my builds to make sure they work, so I also play-tested the restaurant. I didn't know that kids could color on a placemat! 😭 But in my defense, I don't think I've really played with restaurants in this game. Lol.

But everything worked well! At one point, my ceiling was missing and I didn't know how it happened, but this is why I play-test. Lol.

I was checking in on the employees, and Marcus being motivated by his desire to stay employed is SO real 😂 Also, this guy sitting on the bench eating cracked me up because he had a whole table to himself so he could eat. But instead, he sat here so he could chat with his buddies. Then I felt bad for making fun because he was the first Sim to give my restaurant a 5-star review 😭😂

I returned back to playing my Very Veggie save last night and today, so next week I'll have some actual gameplay to share. Lol.

On the Blog

Posted this week:

Book Haul

Purchased:

My annotated set of The Infernal Devices from LitJoy Crate arrived this week and I love it 😭

They're SO pretty!

But I am particularly excited that they are annotated!

And the last book in the Shadohunters Kickstarter also arrived this week!

Also very pretty. It also came with a sleeve for all the books. They look good together.

I was not super impressed with the sleeve, though. The LitJoy Crate one is way better made.

For Review:

And just a couple hours ago, the author emailed me about getting an ARC of the latest Ellie Jordan book and I am SO excited! Not only have I been missing these characters, but this book is just in time for Spooky Season!

How was your guy's week? Get any bookish things? Let me know in the comments below or leave me a link to your post!
