Synopsis:

If they gave out diplomas for what you learn at the mall, Charlotte could graduate with honors. Ever since she got a job as a perfume spritzer, she's become an expert on all things shopping related―oh, and she's getting really good at spying on her classmates who hang out there. What she hasn't mastered is the art of convincing her best friend Brianna to dump her boyfriend Bryant. After Charlotte caught him flirting with a mysterious, blond-haired stick figure, she knows he's up to no good. Worse still, now Brianna is taking his side. Charlotte must prove who is right, once and for all, and that means catching Bryant in the act. This is where her mall roaming skills will come in handy. Perfume anyone?

My rating: ★★★★★

Guys, you know I don’t typically read contemporary books because I just find them too everyday-life for me. I need something supernatural in my life (and not just the TV show ;) which I love)! So it’s strange that I would start off 2017 with this book, right? But I just felt like reading this! I love Janette’s other paranormal books (including those under her pen name, C.J. Hill) so I thought I might give this a try and oh my god I am so glad I did because I loved it! It was so much fun! Will I start reading more contemporary books? Hey, don’t push me lol ;) I will probably read all of Janette’s other contemporary books though. That’s a start, right? She is just amazing and I highly recommend this book!

So, Charlotte works at a perfume counter at the mall when she sees her best friend’s boyfriend out in the mall with another girl... flirting with her! Charlotte of course tells Briana what she saw, but does she believe Charlotte? Not after Bryant “explained” himself to Briana. Even Bryant’s best friend Colton, who is in Charlotte’s study group, is telling her that she didn’t see what she thinks she saw. But Charlotte is having none of that. She saw what she saw and is determined to find out the truth. But with Colton (a guy she may or may not be falling for?) trying to stop her and Briana (her best freaking friend) thinking she wants to break them up for no other reason than that Charlotte doesn’t like Bryant, it will be hard for Charlotte. In the end, Charlotte will have to choose between justice and friendship.

It’s A Mall World After All was really freaking good! It was very fun and humorous, and Janette always writes the most sweetest romances ever *swoon* To this day I have not read one of her books that I have not liked (and I’ve read like 6, I think). I loved the interactions between Colton and Charlotte and just all the embarassing (but humorous) situations Charlotte got herself into, and all because of her fierce loyalty. I just found myself really relating to Charlotte! For example:

Don’t talk to [People at the Mall] though, as this just encourages them to talk back to you. Talking leads to trouble.
I hardly ever wear high heels. It’s not like I need the extra height, and wearing heels is about as comfortable as strapping two shovel onto your feet.

It was just a perfect book all around! I highly recommend it and any of Janette’s other books!

Some other fun quotes:

Every time some woman stops, sniffs her wrist, and murmurs, “Well, that’s a delightful scent,” I nearly say, “Yeah, but so is spring-fresh Tide, and they don’t charge a hundred dollars a bottle for it.”
Footsteps, and then my father’s voice. “Is Charlotte home? Good. now she can answer her own phone calls.”
“I doubt it,” Rebecca said. “She’s given up on men.”
My father grunted. “Well, that’s one down, and three more weddings to talk you girls out of.” He tapped on my door in passing and called out loudly, “Carry on Charlotte, carry on.”
A real elf would have known the words to this song, but I didn’t and had to fake my way through by singing things like, “He knows when you are sleeping. He knows when you’re awake. Because he works for the FBI and has all your phone lines bugged.”

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a link to your review or comment below! :)
