Determined to find him, Daphne travels from her home in Pandemonium to the vast streets of Earth, where everything is colder and more terrifying. With the help of the human boy she believes was the last person to see her brother alive, Daphne glimpses into his dreams, discovering clues to Obie's whereabouts. As she delves deeper into her demonic powers, she must navigate the jealousies and alliances of the violent archangels who stand in her way. But she also discovers, unexpectedly, what it means to love and be human in a world where human is the hardest thing to be.

My rating: ★★★★★

The Space Between was so amazing and heartbreaking--I loved it! I find the Lilith myth very intriguing, and that is one of the things that finally made me pick up this book. That and the fact that our main character Daphne is daughter of the demon Lilith and fallen angel Lucifer, yes please! I seriously loved the mythology in this book!

Synopsis:

An ancient myth + a mean girl + a reluctant warrior = a lively take on good vs. evil...

The Black Rose--a powerful ancient force--has been let loose and has taken up residence in Celeste Gibson, popular girl at Cassidy Carter-Lewis' high school. Thomas Delacroix is the spirit of a fourteenth-century knight who is devoted to protecting the Black Rose, but he needs a contemporary living being to take on the challenge. That's where Cassidy comes in. She's a quirky high school junior who just wants to dress in her vintage clothes, hang out with her best friend, and take care of her father, who is recovering from surgery. She's the last person who would ever volunteer for such a task, but no one actually asked her. Now, like it or not, she finds herself training before dawn and battling demons at parties, the mall, and even at school. But hey, no one ever said high school was going to be easy...

My rating: ★★★★☆

So I’ve read and loved two other books by this author (Zombie Queen of Newbury High and Fairy Bad Day) so I was super excited to read Demonosity and had very high expectations for it. Unfortunately, it didn’t meet all those high expectations. But it was still enjoyable, nonetheless.

Random Read: Finish that Series! (May 2016)

Originally a meme by I'm Loving Books

Amidst my ridiculously out of control TBR pile I have a ton of series I have not finished and it's driving me insane! I can't seem to choose one to finish, so I have decided to leave that in the hands of random.org!

Synopsis:

Meet two teens whose worlds are about to change forever in this paranormal Young Adult novella, a prequel to Ink by debut author Amanda Sun...

Katie Greene’s worst nightmare comes true when her mother dies, and she’s devastated to learn that she will have to leave the only home she’s ever known. Desperate to find where she belongs, she must decide if she has what it takes to start a new life across the ocean.

For Yuu Tomohiro, every day is a nightmare. He struggles to control his strange ability, and keeps everyone at a distance so they won’t get hurt—even his girlfriend, Myu. At night, a shadow haunts his dreams, and a mysterious woman torments him with omens of death and destruction. But these haunting premonitions are only the beginning...

My rating: ★★★☆☆

I was very intrigued by the concept of Japanese mythology--I LOVE mythology but have not read much about Japanese mythology in particular. Unfortunately, not much mythology (that I could tell) was intertwined in this novella, which is understandable since it’s only a prequel.

Synopsis:

A spine-tingling Gothic Thriller...

An abandoned mansion, deep in the woods. A dollhouse, filled with life-sized toys. A doorway into other realms. And girls who keep disappearing...

When Cassie’s best friend, Aisha, vanishes during a school hike, Cassie sets off with Aisha's boyfriend and their friend Lacey, determined to find her. Instead, the three teens fall into a carefully-laid trap—deep into the surreal nightmare and dark secrets of the Dollhouse.

Now, Cassie must uncover the mysteries of the Dollhouse and her own connection to it-- before it's too late.

With the horror and otherworldliness of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, the Gothic romance of A Great and Terrible Beauty, and the thrill of American Horror Story, Dollhouse is a tantalizing start to The Dark Carousel series.

My rating: ★★☆☆☆

Dollhouse sounded so interesting and promising I was very excited to read it, but it had such a frustrating end it left a bitter taste in my mouth (so to speak).
