I did this tag last year and I thought it was really fun so I figured I would do it again! It's always fun to look back at the books I read early on in the year. The idea for this post originated at girlxoxo.
I started the year right with this one 😌 This is book 3 I think? Book 4 just came out last month, so we got two books in the Galactic Bonds series this year, which I was very happy about! Lol.
And obviously it was a 5-star read 😆
However, the first book I reviewed this year was this horror comic! It's a good one! It's very Friday the 13th-inspired, which I like.
This book came out in February but I got an ARC of it towards the end of last year I think, but I had saved it to read it in the new year. Best decision of my life 😆
Omg the ending of this book... I still have not forgiven Leigh Bardugo for this one 😭 But it was such a good duology!
I don't get book hangovers often. I read Crooked Kingdom back in January, but as much as I loved it, it didn't really give me a book hangover. The one that did that I was extremely surprised by was Nothing Like the Movies. I don't know what it was about this book but it was so cute and heartbreaking and I just could not stop thinking about it 😭 And I read this one in September, so we were well into 2024. And it is for this exact reason that I like doing this post more toward the end of the year. Lol. Because I just never know when I'll read a book that will fit into one of these categories.
At the end of June/beginning of July, I fell into this sort of weird reading slump where I just could not focus on full-length novels. The only thing that saved me from a full-blown slump were manga. And it wasn't till September when I did a readathon and read Nothing Like the Movies that I was finally able to defeat that slump! So in a way, I have both of these books to thank for that 😌
My first and only DNF of the year. It was very boring and went off on irrelevant tangents and I just could not be bothered to keep on reading it.
This book just fits a lot of these categories, okay? 😅
Not a 2024 debut author, but a debut author nonetheless. I really liked this book! It was so heartbreaking! But I appreciated her sharing her story.
Believe it or not, I had never read a Leigh Bardugo book before this year 😬🙈 I know! But I am so glad I read her books because the Six of Crows duology quickly became a favorite!
There's actually not a lot of books I regret reading, but this one... 😠 Just looking at it makes me mad. I honestly should've DNFd it but I'm stubborn. Lol.
This is another one I didn't read till September. Like I said, Nothing Like the Movies gave me a book hangover so I just NEEDED to read all the short stories! Lol.
This book about books was so freaking cute! And very relatable. Lol.
And this year I re-read the Heroes of Olympus series and I had so much fun revisiting it! I love this series!
What a fun book tag. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt really is! Thanks for stopping by!
Deleteomgosh I'm loving this book tag, I'll probably steal it from you, as per usual 😂😂 I like how it sums up the first few months of the year and also has diverse questions. Usually end-of-year book tags require you to pick your faves, so this one is quite unique
ReplyDeleteYesss do it! That's why I like this tag! It's kinda nice looking back at those book you read early on in the year.
DeleteOOh fun! I'm going to have to do this tag over the weekend! I like tags that help me catalog my reads for the year! Lol. I read the Six of Crows duology so long ago, but I did wait to read it until I had both books. of course, by doing this I am soo behind on my Bardugo books! I still need to read her last YA duology, plus her adult duology (unless it's meant to be longer and is just on pause, I'm not sure really) AND her book from earlier this year! So behind and that's only on Bardugo! I think I read a Kali Wallace book once before but I am trying to remember if I enjoyed it or not. Despite liking the cover, I might avoid this one just because...I don't know really. When I hear the DNF on something I might "think" about I get nervous and that's only because I recognize the author name as one I read so long ago but I still don't know if I liked the book or not! Lol. Great post! Definitely doing this one soon!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing your answers! I have not read anything else by Leigh Bardugo except for the Grishaverse, but I'm looking forward to reading more for her! Yeah, Dead Space was not my favorite, BUT I own another Kali Wallace book so I'm gonna give it a shot anyway. We'll see how things go. Maybe her other books are amazing! Who knows! Lol.
DeleteI meant to come back and do this tag myself, but never got around to it. Maybe I'll start it up at the beginning of 2025 and just do it at the end of next year! lol

Yess!! You can still do it! I think this tag is meant to be done at the beginning of the year, but that never works out for me so I just wait till the end. Lol.
