Synopsis:

What kind of assassin works pro bono?

It’s hard to be a badass assassin when a giant is beating the crap out of you. Luckily, I never let pride get in the way of my work. My current mission is personal: annihilate Mab Monroe, the Fire elemental who murdered my family. Which means protecting my identity, even if I have to conceal my powerful Stone and Ice magic when I need it most.

To the public, I’m Gin Blanco, owner of Ashland’s best barbecue joint. To my friends, I’m the Spider, retired assassin. I still do favors on the side. Like ridding a vampire friend of her oversized stalker—Mab’s right-hand goon who almost got me dead with his massive fists.

At least irresistible Owen Grayson is on my side. The man knows too much about me, but I’ll take my chances. Then there’s Detective Bria Coolidge, one of Ashland’s finest. Until recently, I thought my baby sister was dead. She probably thinks the same about me. Little does she know, I’m a cold-blooded killer . . . who is about to save her life.

My rating: ★★★★★

Our retired assassin known as the Spider sets out to help a friend with a problem.

Roslyn is being accosted by one of Mab's goons, treating her like they're a thing, like he owns her. So, knowing what she does about Gin, she comes to her for help, and Gin agrees. This Slater guy is such and a**hole, the way he treated Roslyn... ugh! But that what made the story so good! By this point I am extremely invested in the characters and care what happens to them. I just love how much feeling Jennifer is able to infuse into her stories!

On another note, I don't mean to be rude, but I am so glad Donovan Cain is gone! I just didn't get what was so appealing about him. But this Owen character... *swoon* I LOVE him! He is just so sweet, and most importantly, he accepts Gin just the way she is. At one point in the mission, Owen just kinda tagged along with them even though he had no idea what was going on. He just went along with and lent his help. I totally approve of him, Gin :) But girl, you are awesome and badass and I love you, but other people love you, too. You need to let yourself be loved! You deserve it.

Although the amount of repetition is quite prominent (Sigh, I know, but I just skip those parts... I'm not missing much), the series just keeps getting better and better! There's stuff going on with Gin's little sister Bria, and oh my gods it is crazy! And Finn... ha! I love that guy so hard! And then the ending... whoa! I cannot believe Gin did that! She's basically calling war with Mab. Oh boy, this is going to be interesting...

With so much action and suspense, this series is sure to keep you entertained for hours! It's amazing!
