Sunday Post #439: Worst Year Ever. And It's Only February

Welcome to The Sunday Post hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer, where I talk about what is going on in life and the blog, and show you all the bookish things I got that week!

What I've been doing:

2025 has been awful and it's only February 2nd 😭 Not only because the world in general (the US particularly) is on fire (trying not to doom scroll has been so hard 😭), but just work has been stressful. My patient, who's only a kid, has been sick since the beginning of the year. After a battery of tests and spending an entire afternoon in the ER with her, she was finally diagnosed with meningitis. The poor kid. She's in Seattle Children's Hospital right now and I am literally sick to my stomach with worry. She had a couple of surgeries and I just hope she starts to recuperate soon. She's suffered for far too long.

Aside from that, one of my brothers is also dealing with a medical thing that I don't think is too serious, but he still needs more testing to see what's actually going on. And me, well I decided to finally get a primary care provider after not having one for YEARS so now I am also getting a bunch of testing done. Yay 🙃 My period has always been irregular but it's been getting worse over the years and I am honestly sick of it. I really like the doctor I got because she immediately was like, "Let's find out what's going on" instead of just putting me on birth control and calling it a day, so I really appreciated that. My bloodwork showed that I'm super anemic and I am also deficient in vitamin D, and honestly, that makes sense. Lol. Tomorrow I get to have a transvaginal ultrasound and on Friday a pap smear 🫠 I'm looking forward to figuring out what's going on, but I'm NOT looking forward to all the invasive testing 😭

In other news, I finally got my Holo Taco x David's Tea collab nail polish and mug!! I love it so much! It definitely made me happy when I opened it. My nails have been naked for over a week (😱 that's how you know things are bad) but I think I'm finally going to sit down today and paint them with my new nail polishes while I sip on some tea in my new mug 😌 It's going to be a very self-care kind of day, which honestly, I need.

Just a heads up, I don't know how much I'll be posting these days. Like I said last week, I am stressed out of my mind right now and I just cannot focus on blogging. I may post a review, but maybe not. Sunday and Monday posts are pretty easy to write, so there's a good chance I'll stick to at least those. Lol.

What I've been watching:

I've been watching so much Criminal Minds that I'm already on Season 3... and I just started my rewatch last week 😂 But I'm enjoying it! I love these characters!

What I've been listening to:

"This Pluto Tape is about you being your own worst critic. I imagine a clone army of me just saying i'm not good enough all the time." -Unlike Pluto

What I've been playing:

I apologize in advance because this next part is going to be loooong 😅 I played a lot of Sims 4 because I had a lot of time on my hands due to my patient being away in the hospital and I needed to do something to shut my brain up and keep it from spiraling 🫠

I did this huge build last week, a penthouse for my Super Sim 2.0 (that's what I'm calling her lol. I killed my original Super Sim and had her be reborn as her daughter's daughter so now her daughter is her mom and yes I made this more confusing than it needed to be 😂) and her mom to live in but I didn't take any screenshots. Mostly because I forgot to but also this penthouse is HUGE. Lol. You'll see a little bit of it below though.  But look at how cute this little family is! The baby napping with her mom and the cat hanging out with them 🥹 And then the game goes and does the weird Betty Spaghetty glitch that is absolutely horrifying 😭😂 (Feel free to click on any of the images to make them bigger if you're feeling like being traumatized 😂)

I also decided that the mom's love interest was going to be Akira Kibo because he is one of my favorite townies 😍 So she's dating him and it's super cute! It's unfortunate that one of his traits is that he is jealous, but I'm not above cheating that trait away and replacing it with something else if it gets too annoying 😆

Here is the infant aging up into a toddler and the toddler immediately going to pet the cat 😭

These kid interactions with the pets are SO cute!! 😭 And then both of my sims sat autonomously together and ate breakfast on the toddler's bed and it was also so cute! 😭😭 Man, I love this game. Lol. Also, the whole point of the Super Sim Challenge is to have one Sim complete all the skills, aspirations, careers, etc. But one very cool thing about a sim that is reborn is that ALL of their infant milestones and toddler skills are maxed out! SO that was very helpful for me. Lol. I did end up working on some other milestones, but it turns out the toddler milestones are bugged 🫠 I had to resort to using a couple of different mods to be able to get those milestones. Classic Sims 4 🙃

As for her mom, she's a Spellcaster but I never really planned to do much magic with her... but then I did anyway because I love Spellcasters and I couldn't help it 😆 The spells and potions they learn are very helpful!

Unfortunately, sometimes things don't go according to plan and they get cursed and pass out 😂

Oh! Here's a section of the penthouse! It's connected to the dining room and it's supposed to be this sort of breakfast nook area. Omg imagine having that view while eating 😍

And I played so much of this save file that I managed to age up my Super Sim TWICE in one IRL week 😂

Aging up into a child is when the rebirth interactions start appearing. This is still pretty new to me so I'm having fun exploring all of this rebirth stuff.

And here is one last, very wholesome shot of my Super Sim being read to by her mom 🥰

And then yesterday I went back to the save file where I do all of the Rewards Events. There's another event coming up this week for The Sims 25th anniversary and I want to age up the kids in the two households I'm playing into adults by the time the event starts on Tuesday... omg that's so close! I'm excited! Anyway, popping into this save file, with the Grim Reapers Rewards Event family in particular, was nothing but drama. Lol. First, the dog died 😭 I had meant to grab a vet treat to age to dog down because I was not ready for him to die but I was too late 😭 AND THEN my main sim died too from eating bad pufferfish nigiri, which the ghost dog had brought back from the netherworld 😭😂😂

Luckily, the Reapers Event was all about making ambrosia which brings Sims back from the dead, so my ghost sim was able to make it and bring herself back to life. And I also brought the dog back to life. But this entire family's needs were terrible and they were stressing me out so I ditched them and switched to my other household in this same save file 😂

Playing with this family, from the Holiday Rewards Event, was much less stressful 😌 Lol. Though I did have to work on the romantic satisfaction between the parents because they were threatening with divorce 😂 But I spent most of the time working on the kid's social aspiration, which was nice. Below you'll see her befriending the kid from the family with all the death 🤣 (Which I guess is appropriate since I did use that family for all the Grim Reaper/Life & Death things lol)
