Monthly Wrap-Up: January 2025

This month, I read 5 books, which totaled only about 1019 pages, almost 1500 pages LESS than the previous month 😬 To be fair, this was a terrible month for me in general. I have been SO stressed out that my brain cannot focus on reading (or blogging) right now. Anyway...
  • 2 were full-length novels, 2 novellas, and 1 manga
  • 3 were part of a series and 2 were standalone
  • I started 2 series this month and caught up on 1
  • 3 were finished copies and 2 ARCs
  • 1 was a physical book and 4 were an ebooks
  • 1 was a 5-star book, 3 were 4 stars, and 1 was 3 stars
  • 1 was indie published and 4 were traditionally published
  • 1 was by a new-to-me author and 4 were by authors I've previously read
  • 4 were adult books and 1 YA
  • 1 was nonfiction and 4 were fiction
  • 3 were sci-fi, 1 adventure, and 1 about writing

Books read this month:

Write Your Own Cake was a very interesting essay with very helpful tips on writing series. As I mentioned in my review of the book though, as a reader, I just really liked getting an insight into how my favorite author writes some of my favorite series 😆

Cold Eternity was a pretty good sci-fi horror. All three of S.A. Barnes's sci-fi horrors have been solid 4-star reads for me. They aren't amazing, but they always hit the spot when it comes to horror set in space.

Salvation Day though, not great. Also not terrible, but not great. It was just kinda... meh 🤷‍♀️

On the other hand, I loved Full Speed to a Crash Landing! It was SO much fun! I loved the protagonist and the interactions between the characters. I also liked that it was a novella, so it was short. Lol.

And A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation I just read today because I needed to read something before the week was over due to the 52 books in 52 weeks challenge I'm doing, so I fell back on manga... again 😆 And I liked it! It was fun! It was giving me gay vibes, which I was loving, but then I read that the author mentioned that this is not meant to be BL (boy love) which was severely disappointing to me. The author saying that it's NOT gay makes it even MORE gay tbh, and the internet agrees with me, so there 😂

  1. I still need to read the Beth Revis new series. You read what you could this month, sometimes that's enough and we just have to move on. I hope February is a better month for you, both reading and in life!

    1. Yeah, I don't really beat myself up these days over the amount I read. The only thing I do worry about is reading at least one book a week and I can easily do that with manga, as you can see 😂

      Thanks! I hope so too.

  2. Write Your Own Cake sounds super fun! I know how much you love J.Epsten so I'm glad you could start the year with a fave! 😁

Ohh I don't now how to pick my fave read of January. I think it's a tie between A Curse so Dark and Lonely and Beauty Reborn - both are Beauty and the Beast retellings 😂 Since I totally failed at my winter TBR, I'm hoping to make a better February to-do list.

I hope next month treats you better girl! ❤️😁

    1. I love that you were reading Beauty and the Beast retellings again 😂 You may have failed at your winter tbr, but at least you had fun reading what you did. Lol

Thanks, girl. I hope so too.
