Synopsis: Things get textual when a steamy message from a random wrong number turns into an anonymous relationship in this hilarious rom-com by Lynn Painter.
Bad luck has always followed Olivia Marshall... or maybe she’s just the screw-up her family thinks she is. But when a “What are you wearing?” text from a random wrong number turns into the hottest, most entertaining—albeit anonymous—relationship of her life, she thinks things might be on the upswing...
Colin Beck has always considered Olivia his best friend’s annoying little sister, but when she moves in with them after one of her worst runs of luck, he realizes she’s turned into an altogether different and sexier distraction. He’s sure he can keep his distance, until the moment he discovers she’s the irresistible Miss Misdial he’s been sort of sexting for weeks—and now he has to decide whether to turn the heat up or ghost her before things get messy.
I never thought I'd have a favorite romance author, but here we are, because I think Lynn Painter is my favorite romance author 😆 Everything I have read by this author I have enjoyed—including this book!
I really loved the concept of this book. The idea of sending flirty texts to a stranger who turns out to be someone you know IRL, someone you're currently roommates with, was so fun! I was very excited to see how they would find out who the other person was.
Turns out I shouldn't have been as excited as I was, because this led to the third act breakup, which featured one of my most disliked tropes: miscommunication. And this is a general problem I have with most romance books. It's honestly one of the reasons why I don't read much of the genre. I just can't stand that trope! It irritates me so much when the third-act breakup involves something that is preventable by the characters just TALKING. I honestly hated Olivia there at the end because of how dumb she was for jumping to conclusions the way she did

But aside from this, I think Lynn Painter does romance really well. I loved the fun, witty banter, and how it was just overall so funny! Olivia's level of bad luck was wild and absolutely hilarious! 😂 And her relationship with Colin was so freaking cute!! 🥰 Both as strangers texting each other about their days, and as new roommates who have known each other for years through Olivia's brother. And the fact that the book was dual POV was just the cherry on top! It was great!

"I love you. I know I screwed everything up and I know we were going to keep it casual, but I somehow fell in love with you. I can't believe it myself, but in spite of our lifetime of hatred for each other, I am completely lost without you in my life."
