Synopsis:
It’s Halloween at Mythos Academy, and Gwen Frost and her friends are ready to have a little fun. But when a mythological monster shows up, the night turns out to be more trick than treat.
Halloween Frost takes place in between the events of Touch of Frost, book #1, and Kiss of Frost, book #2, in the Mythos Academy young adult urban fantasy series. The short story is about 6,500 words.
It’s been so long since I was last in the Mythos Academy world, and oh man did I miss it! I just love this world to pieces! And this short story takes place during Halloween! Double win!
One of the many things I love about Jennifer’s books is that she always does such a great job at recapping thing in her books. And this short story was not exception! So hurray for that, ‘cause it’s been awhile since I last read a Mythos Academy book. Lol.
Another thing I love about her books is the slow burn romance. This short story takes place between books 1 and 2 so Logan and Gwen aren’t together yet, and it does make me a little sad, but I much prefer this over instalove!
The Spartan might be with another girl right now, he might have said that we couldn’t be together, but things weren’t over with Logan and me yet. They were just getting started.
And goddamn was the sexual tension in this was palpable! I loved it! And I adore Logan! I pretty much swoon every single time he shows up. Lol.
He smiled at me—a warm, sexy teasing grin that took my breath away.
Girl, same.
I also love Daphne! She is so funny! And Vic, Gwen’s sword, too! He is so sassy and bloodthirsty it’s hilarious!
Jennifer typically writes really good fight scenes. The fight scene in this one wasn’t as extensive as in the actual books, but I’m not saying it was bad! It’s just that the story was more focused on the characters, whom I just love, so I didn't mind!
Speaking of the action sequence, I loved that Logan and Gwen fought side by side instead of Logan just rescuing Gwen and saving the day.
The Spartan had been right about something tonight. Whether the new dangers were tricks, treats, or something else, I’d hold my own against them, just the way had so far.
Overall, I really enjoyed this novella! It was short and sweet! And I just absolutely love the characters and the world they live in. Mythos Academy, my favorite series.

This sounds like so much fun! I haven't read anything by this author, but I LOVE slow burn romance. Great review!
ReplyDeleteReally? Then I highly recommend her books! All of her series develop the romance really well! I think you'll enjoy that!
DeleteSlow burn romance instead of insta love is my favorite. I love when authors can set up the chemistry and tension between two characters. I haven't read this book, but I'm going to check out this series on Goodreads right now. Thanks for the great review!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I hate instalove! And yes, you definitely need to check out this series! It's the best!
DeleteWow, this cover! I'm not a cover girl, but I love this one.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it beautiful? I love it too!
DeleteI've heard of the Mythos Academy, but have never read any of these books. After reading your review, I'm really stoked to get a hold of this series! And, since today is Halloween, I think I'll go ahead and order this story from Amazon! (Even though I haven't read the first book yet, lol.)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your thoughts on this novella!! <3 :)
Do it!! The series is so good! And I don't think you necessarily have to read the 1st book, though it IS preferable! The author is really good at recapping the events of the previous book, but that might also mean that there might be some spoilers. Anyway, definitely do read this series! It's my favorite!
