Synopsis: The battle for the royal palace heats up as Squad Zero and the Quincy invaders continue their standoff. Squad Zero appears to have the upper hand so far but that could all change when the Quincy king joins the fight. Do the Soul Reapers have an ace up their sleeve as well?

My rating: ★★★★☆

We start off this volume with the Quincy Askin Nakk Le Vaar, and I could tell right away that this guy was gonna be trouble. I mean he has some really cool abilities, but they’re not cool when he’s fighting for the other side 😩

We also got some new revelations regarding Shunsui, and I’m a little confused about his strategy in all this. They better have a good plan because so far it looks like they’re screwed 😬

But this volume is mostly centered around Yhwach and Ichibe Hyosube, who is the leader of Squad Zero. It was a good fight and we got to see some interesting powers being used. There was lots of struggle back and forth, and it looked like the good guys had a good chance at winning... but then... Look, I just don’t know how they’re supposed to beat Yhwach—He’s so freaking overpowered!

We are left with an interesting cliffhanger in this volume, and I am very curious to see where this all goes. Things are bleak, friends. Here’s to hoping things turn around for the Reapers soon.
