Sunday Post #429: Getting Books to Make Myself Feel Better

Welcome to The Sunday Post hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer, where I talk about what is going on in life and the blog, and show you all the bookish things I got that week!

What I've been doing:

Blink-182 warned us, but we didn't listen...

So work is still terrible. This week I found out that my patient's health insurance didn't even let her DOCTORS know that they decided to discontinue nursing care for this child 🙃 Her doctors at Seattle Children's were not happy, so we will see if they are able to advocate for her and do something about it. But like I said last week, luckily I have a contract with the school district so I'm still able to at least go to school with her and care for her there. I like my job, but having to deal with the absurdity that is the health insurance system in the US is infuriating. I hate it.

What I've been watching:

This week on my MCU rewatch I only managed to watch two movies, but it was two good ones! I particularly love Winter Soldier. It is one of my favorite moves just ever! It's SO good! And Guardians of the Galaxy was just fun. I actually haven't seen Volume 3 yet so I'm excited to watch it as soon as I finish all my rewatches.

Aside from that, I've been catching up with 911 and just watching a bunch of Sims 4 YouTube 😆

What I've been listening to:

"This is Wings to Dreams, a song about building your success brick by brick, instead of overnight. Rushing to build anything in my experience always leads to something breaking along the way, trust the process, good things take time :)" -Unlike Pluto

I don't like cooking. I like baking because I can just stick the thing in the oven and walk away 😂 But cooking? I just don't like it. So I will do whatever I can to make things easier for myself. And I've heard good things about this cookbook because you apparently do most of the cooking one day and then the rest of the week you just easily put together a meal. I think I like the sound of that. We will see. Lol.

Library Loot:

I got another sci-fi horror from the library. Spoiler for tomorrow's post: I didn't love this 😬 Lol.

And then I went to my library in person and grabbed a bunch of stuff! I'm feeling like fantasy lately, so I got a bunch of that, plus the next couple of volumes of Spy x Family. Very excited for all of these books!

How was your guy's week? Get any bookish things? Let me know in the comments below or leave me a link to your post!

  1. Nice library haul. Enjoy! What a bummer on the insurance. I'm with you on our US health care insurance. It's a pain. Have a good week.

    1. It really is. But we will see if anything happens now that the doctors are aware.

Thanks! I hope you have a good week too!

  2. I loved the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie when I thought I wouldn't. But I was only eh on the second one. But the third one was so good, and so sad. It sucks for your patient, I would say I can't believe they didn't tell the parent, but I've learned there's nothing too ridiculous for health insurance to do that is NOT in the favor of the patient. I'm glad you at least get to be there at school, and I hope the doctors can actually do something! I hope you have a good week!

    1. Right? It's like the only thing they care about is the money 🫠 I hate it.

Thank you. I hope you have a good week as well!

  3. I LOVE Guardians of the Galaxy! It blends humor and serious topics so well! The whole trilogy is just top tier ♥

I've seen Heartless Hunter going around these last few weeks - it's quite popular so I can't wait to see your review!

I don't even know how US health insurance works, but I've seen so many people angry online about it - too many kids not getting proper treatment because someone out there cares more about numbers than actual lives. It's terrifying.

    1. You are so lucky that you don't have to deal our health insurance. It is honestly a scam. Well, in my opinion it is. Lol. I don't know why people are so against universal healthcare! It is SO wild to me!
