The First Horror (99 Fear Street: The House of Evil, #1)
The First Horror

This is one of the books I read back in the day when I was in middle school. Actually, I think I only read 1st and 3rd book in this series, which after having read the entire series now, it’s totally fine. Lol.

Overall, The First Horror was an okay read. It was pretty creepy, but I was not a fan of the characters, really. Especially not Kody.

So, we know that R.L. Stine loves his fake outs. I always expect them because otherwise I’d just be disappointed that the cool thing didn’t actually happen. But this time, in this book, I was surprised because some of them actually weren't fake outs, which was awesome!

The Second Horror (99 Fear Street: The House of Evil, #2)
The Second Horror

Cally is very excited to have some new blood move into her house for her to torment. I actually really liked that we got some evil Cally POV as she haunted Brandt and his family. It was pretty cool. But I still don't understand why she’s evil. Why?! But evil Cally is not even that evil, tbh. What she does is more like pranks. She is not very good at this killing thing. Lol.

Overall, it was kind of a meh book. I liked the plot twist at the end and I liked the evil Cally POV, but that’s pretty much it. There was one Cally plot twist I saw coming a mile away, and that’s never fun. It’s still not explained why Cally is suddenly evil, so I hope we finally find out in the next book!

The Third Horror (99 Fear Street: The House of Evil, #3)
The Third Horror

This is the final book in the trilogy! At the end of the first book, Kody promised she would come back for her sister, and she did.... Along with a whole film crew. Yup. they’re filming Cally and Kody’s story where it actually happened. And Kody is the lead actress playing her sister. This was very weird. Why not just play herself? 🤷‍♀️

Things about the house aren’t explicitly explained. We do get some hints here and there and we do, I guess, finally find out why Cally suddenly turned evil when she died. There was also a really weird revelation about the people who helped out around the house in all three books and I’m really confused? Just- why? It was kind of dumb. Overall, I thought this was a pretty average series with some pretty average characters.
