Synopsis:As Mayuri struggles against the monstrosity that is Pernida, his daughter Nemu joins the battle. For the first time, Nemu disobeys Mayuri's orders and acts on her own. But will it be her final act? Meanwhile, Kyoraku faces his own demons...
My rating:★★★★★
And we are continuing right on with a bit more Nemu in this one! She is just great! I love her! Her fight in this volume... she gave it all she had and it was awesome! It was such a cool fight!
But speaking of Kurotsuchi, he brought Toshiro back from being a zombie!! I am so happy!! 😠And I think Rangiku is back too! I love this! Kurotsuchi may be a weirdo, but damn is he smart.
Even though Nemu is on the cover, I feel like this volume was more Nanao and Shunsui-centric... which I am totally okay with because I love them! They were just so cute and I’ve always loved their relationship and all their interactions. However, this volume had some revelations...
Anyway, so Shunsui’s brother was Nanao’s dad, and Shunsui has sort of been watching over her this whole time (creepily so, I might add 😬 Lol).
So, I never even realized that in the show and even the manga up to this point, we had never seen Nanao’s zanpakuto. It turns out that it was hidden from her. It was actually one of Shunsui’s swords! He was just holding onto it until he could pass it on to Nanao! And the reason it was hidden from her in the first place was because there’s a curse on the Ise women. Her finally getting to wield her sword was pretty cool though.
You know what all this made me realize? That she literally made it into the thirteen Court Guard Squads without a zanpakuto and ONLY relied on her kido. She’s THAT good. I love it!
All that being said, I do like Shunsui. He’s very fun and sassy but also totally badass! His zanpakuto has an interesting ability and his bankai was very interesting too!
I really enjoyed this volume! I loved that it was centered around Nanao and Shunsui—I’ve always loved this pairing... up until a certain revelation, that is 😅 But overall, it was great!
