Synopsis: Paulette Fox refuses to let her blindness stop her from living a full life. But one thing she's never done is fall in love - until now. Paulette knows Brad Jones is the only guy for her.

Even when her friends see Brad commit a horrible crime, Paulette is sure that he's innocent. Her friends tell her he's out of control. That she will be his next victim. But Paulette knows he would never hurt her.

Is Paulette right about Brad? Or has her love put her in terrible danger?

My rating: ★★★★☆

I was very interested to read this book because we have a main character with a disability, and that’s something you get pretty much never in these books. I was excited! But I was also apprehensive. I wasn't sure how this character was going to be handled, but this was pretty well written!

The book started off creepy right away. In the prologue we follow a guy as he stalks Paulette. It was SO creepy! Especially because he said he watches her all the time 😨 Unfortunately for Paulette, she’s not quite sure who this guy is, for obvious reasons. Her friends claim to have seen Brad, the guy she likes, commit a crime. But Paulette doesn’t believe it. I was a little unsure there too because Brad seemed to have his mood swings and it made you think what the heck was going on.

Our girl Paulette is blind, but don’t let that fool you. She was self-sufficient and smart and I liked her! She never felt sorry for herself and her friends didn’t treat her as less. Mostly. She starts taking self-defense classes, which I think is a fantastic idea, considering she lives in Shadyside 😆 I didn’t know why everyone was so against it 🙄

This book was particularly scary because Paulette is blind. At one point someone is inside her house and she thinks she may have misplaced the waste basket, but NOPE. And it was just horrifying how close this guy came to her 😨

Like I said, I was a little apprehensive about this book at first, but surprisingly, I really enjoyed it. I liked Johnathan and Paulette's relationship and their fun banter. I liked Paulette in general and I liked seeing how she dealt with her disability. The showdown happened in the dark, and girl not only saved herself, but her guy too! I loved that! The book was a bit predictable, but it was good!

The Fear Street connection: They practice piano on an abandoned and probably haunted piano on Fear Street 🤦‍♀️😂 Dude, I know you're new in town, but come on! 😆 And omg 99 Fear Street and Simon Fear were mentioned!

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a link to your review or comment below! 😊
