I love doing this survey because not only does it include questions relating to books, but also blogging! I borrowed some of the images below from The Perpetual Page Turner, the creator of this fun survey 😊
Number of Books You Read: 63
Number of Re-Reads: 6
Genre You Read The Most From: Action (18, manga) and horror (14, novels)
1. Best book you read:
This may be recency bias, but damn if this wasn't a good book 😭
2. Book you were excited about and thought you were going to love more but didn’t:
The fact that the first book got 5 stars for me and this one only 3.5 is still astounding to me. Idk if it was my mood or what, but I just didn't love it as much as I thought I would.
3. Most surprising (in a good way or bad way):
I had heard nothing but good things about this book, so I'm glad I gave it a shot because I ended up really enjoying it! Plus, that twist with the you-know-what? SO GOOD!
4. Book you “pushed” the most people to read (and they did):
I have not shut up about this series ever since I discovered it a couple years ago, so I'm glad my nonstop yapping about it is working and getting other people to read it 😆
5. Best series you started this year, best sequel, and best series ender:
I loved all of these so much!
6. Favorite new author you discovered this year:
This book was SO fun! I loved it!
7. Best book from a genre you don’t typically read/was out of your comfort zone:
My first cozy fantasy, and I really enjoyed it! But then, I like everything that Julia Huni writes 😆
8. Most action-packed/thrilling/unputdownable book:
Not only does Jennifer Estep write the best action sequences, but this book took place in mostly one day, which elevated the unputdownableness of this book!
9. Book you read this year that you would be MOST likely to re-read next year:
Tbh, I don't think there's a book I read this year that I would read again next year. But I might leaf through this one every now and then.
10. Favorite cover of a book you read this year:
It's so simple, but I love it!
11. Most memorable character:
Princess Donut! I LOVE HER!
12. Most beautifully written book:
Listen, I don't usually read books with a beautiful prose 😅 A couple years ago, I discovered that I do NOT like purple prose. Lol. I read well-written books all the time, but not books you would consider to have beautiful writing. Lol.
13. Most thought-provoking/life-changing book:
This book was weird in the best way possible! It was creepy and you never really knew what was going on, but by the end, you had enough bread crumbs to kinda figure out what could be happening. It was good!
14. Book you can’t believe you waited UNTIL this year to finally read:
This book was so good and such a quick read! The TV show releasing is what finally got me to read it... though I still haven't seen said TV show at this point 😅😂
15. Favorite passage/quote from a book you read this year:
"She didn't worry if she'd find acceptance or belief. She'd slain the Lord Ruler. She'd married Elend Venture. And, more remarkable than either accomplishment, somehow among the chaos and mess she'd discovered who she was. Not a girl of the streets, though that was where she'd been raised. Not a woman of the court, though she appreciated the beauty and grace of the balls. Someone else.
Someone she liked."
(Blacked out because spoilers 😅 If you wish to see the spoilers, you should be able to highlight the text. Also, I freaking love Vin 😭)
16. Shortest and longest books of the year:
Write Your Own Cake is a short essay at about 20 pages. Meanwhile, The Well of Ascension is an epic fantasy at 792 pages! I did read the mass market paperback, so while it was a thicker book, it was also smaller in length. Lol.
17. OTP OF THE YEAR (you will go down with this ship!)
I love Vin and Elend 😭 They complement each other so well!
18. Favorite non-romantic relationship:
The bromance between Desmond and Gabe 😍 I loved their banter! Lol.
19. Favorite book you read this year from an author you’ve read previously:
It was just so good! 😭 I cannot believe it took me this long to get into this series! (And for anyone out there who is as overwhelmed by the Cosmere as I was, just start here. Read the Mistborn trilogy, I beg you! You will not regret it!)
20. Best book you read this year that you read based SOLELY on a recommendation from somebody else/peer pressure/bookstagram, etc.
A couple friends on Goodreads have been raving about this series, so when I saw it at B&N I grabbed it immediately! And it was SO good! I'm planning on reading the sequel soon!
21. Newest fictional crush:
While I may have not loved this book as much as other Mira Grant books, I can't deny that she writes great characters, and even better romantic relationships. They are nothing but green flags, and I adored Graham in this and how understanding he was 😭
22. Best 2025 debut:
I don't think I've read a 2025 debut 😅
23. Best worldbuilding/most vivid setting:
IT'S SO GOOD! 😭 (Next series I'm pushing people to read 😆)
24. Book that put a smile on your face/was the most FUN to read:
This book is the definition of fun! And I really loved the sassy protagonist!
25. Book that made you cry or nearly cry:
It's been a couple days since I finished this book, and I'm still not okay 😭
26. Hidden gem of the year:
I freaking loved this book! It only has 126 ratings on Goodreads, which is unacceptable. Another book I'm gonna have to push on people 😆
27. Book that crushed your soul:
The ending of this book was so bittersweet 😩 But I enjoyed it! And I loved the friendship in this! 😭
28. Most unique book:
Monster hunting, but it's cyrptids! I'm telling you, the Supernatural vibes is one of the things that sold me on this series. Lol.
29. Book that made you the most mad (doesn’t necessarily mean you didn’t like it):
I don't think a book has really made me mad this year. But one thing I found frustrating about this series is that I feel like it was queer baiting me 😒 If not Boy Love, why Boy Love shaped? Otherwise, I enjoyed this series!
1. New favorite book blog/Bookstagram/Youtube channel you discovered this year:
I discovered this BookTuber late in the year, but I love her! I originally watched one of her videos for a readathon she hosts bimonthly (!!), but then I went back and watched some more of her videos, and I just love her vibes. She's so chill, has good taste in books, I love her accent, and her outfits are amazing!
2. Favorite post you wrote:
It's gotta be the reading stats from the previous year. I'm such a nerd for numbers 😆
3. Favorite bookish-related photo you took:
I'm no bookstagrammer/photographer 😂
4. Best bookish event that you participated in (author signings, festivals, virtual events, etc.)?
I didn't really do any events this year, but I did go to Portland again this year, where we went to a bunch of different bookstores, including Powell's! I love Powell's 😌
5. Most challenging thing about blogging or your reading life this year?
Reviews. Always 😭
6. Most popular post on your blog:
Same post as last year! To be fair, this is a fun one. Fun fact: That baby we threw the baby shower for, he's a toddler now and an absolute tornado 😂 But we love him. Lol.
7. Best bookish discovery (book-related sites, bookstores, etc.):
When we went to Portland, we went to two different Powell's, and while the main Powell's wasn't new to me this year, the other one was! It was really nice too! And it was bigger than I expected! There, I found these cute handmade book earrings. I actually gave these to the mom we threw the bookish baby shower for from the last question. Lol. She's a librarian, hence the book-themed baby shower and earrings. Lol.
8. Did you complete any reading challenges or goals that you had set for yourself at the beginning of the year?
Umm, I have finished 3 and failed 1 😅
1. One book you didn’t get to this year but will be your number one priority next year:
Idk if I really have any priorities at the moment. Though the latest volume of Spy x Family just came out this month, and the only reason I haven't read it is because my library doesn't have it yet. Lol.
2. Book you are most anticipating next year (non-debut):
I think the next Shadowhunters book comes out Fall 2026? I'm not sure, but I'm excited (and a little nervous 😅)!
3. 2026 debut you are most anticipating:
I am SO bad about finding debuts 🫣😅
4. Series ender/a sequel you are most anticipating next year:
Erebus-13 is the last book in the Red Space sci-fi horror series, and I cannot wait to see how it ends! I have really enjoyed this series so far!
5. One thing you hope to accomplish or do in your reading/blogging life next year:
If I could stay on top of those reviews, that would be great 🙃 Same goal as last year, but one day it's going to happen, I swear 😆
6. A 2026 release you’ve already read and recommend to everyone (if applicable):
At the moment, I only have one 2026 ARC, which doesn't come out till April, so I probably won't start it till next year. Idk. Maybe. I may not be able to wait 😆
Let me know what some of your favorite books of 2025 were and/or what books you're most looking forward to in 2026!
