2024 Reading Stats
This is one of my favorite posts to do every year because I just love looking at these graphs and seeing how they change over the years. Grab a snack because it's going to be a long one 😅
The one big difference this year is all those manga! I think that the last time I read a manga was back in 2019, and this year I read 21! And only one DNF! Yay!
This year I re-read significantly fewer books. I only re-read the Heroes of Olympus series. Last year I re-read 13 books!
I don't know what happened in September, but I read SO much! Lol.
Here is a closer look at my reading year and you can tell when I fell into my reading slump (June) and how I slowly got out of it until September when I read like a maniac. Lol. Also, idk why there's always a dip in October. Interesting.
This chart is very different from last year. Last year I read 25 of those shorter, under 100-page novellas/short stories. Why? Because I was trying to complete my reading challenge 😂 This year I still read a lot of shorter books, but most of them were over 100 pages.
This year I read about 10 fewer ARCs than I did last year. I've gotten pretty good and not requesting so many books from Netgalley 😅 It used to be a real problem. Lol.
And this one is also quite different from last year! Last year about 63% of the books I read were ebooks, but this year it's physical books! I think the thing that really helped was the manga I read. Most of them were physical books. However, I did read about 20 fewer digital books than last year, so that's interesting too.
This one is crazy! I read about 35 MORE books from the library than I did last year!! I love my library, but I also need to do a better job at reading the books I own 😆
This one is pretty similar to last year. Like I said, I need to do a better job at reading those books I've owned for a while 😅
Omg this one is pretty much exactly the same as last year 😂 Except this year I read 5 more books that were part of a series. Lol.
And this one is pretty much the same as well.
This one is a bit different than last year because this year I added the 'Caught Up' and 'Abandoned' categories to this chart. Last month I went through my TBR and got rid of a bunch of series I knew I was never going to get to. It was very satisfying 😌
I am so easily entertained 😂 However, I have decided that starting in 2025, I'm gonna start giving out half stars because in 2024 I found myself stuck between two star ratings for a couple of books. So this chart will be quite different next year! I do love that most of the books I read were good ones though!
This is another one that is pretty much the same... though this year I read less books from the 90s and 2000s.
And here is a more detailed breakdown of the years. So many new releases. Lol.
Last year, about a third of the books I read were indie-published, but this year I read significantly less. That makes me a little sad since I do love indie books.
And here is a more detailed look at individual publishers. The Disney Hyperion books were ALL the Percy Jackson books I read this year, including the re-reads. Lol. And the Viz Media and Kodensha Comics books are all the manga I read!
This one remains pretty much the same as well. I tend to read more books by female authors. Though this year I read about 10% more by male authors (all the manga probably lol).
This chart makes me pretty happy! And the thing that helped was, again, the manga! Lol.
Oooh this year I read about 14% more new-to-me authors! Look at me branching out. Lol.
This one is a little surprising. Most of the books I read tend to be female POV, but this year I read significantly more that were a mixed POV!
And this one is also quite different because most of the books I read tend to be single POV, but this year it was the opposite! Interesting...
Same with this! Usually, the books I read are 1st person POV, but this year more were 3rd person POV!
This one is a little shocking... but only a little. This is the FIRST year I read MORE adult books than YA!! I mean, it's not by a lot, and in other years the race was pretty close too. But still! (Also, read a bunch of Percy Jackson, as you can see. Lol.)
This year I read 3 more nonfiction books than I did last year! As the years go by, I'm reading more and more nonfiction books.
This year I tried something a little different with this chart and did a bunch of subgenres instead of just your average sci-fi, horror, etc. Idk if I like it? It's interesting for sure to see the detailed breakdown though.
This one has been the same for many years 😅 I think I need to actively work on those backlist books. Lol.
Same with this one, though the chart this year is MUCH worse than last year 😅 It's all those books I got from the library. Lol.
And this is WILD! Look at how much money I saved using my library! 🤩
And that's it for this year's reading stats. I love numbers, so this is always fun for me to do. I just hope it's at least marginally interesting to read 😅
Wow, congrats on 1. reading so many diverse books and 2. creating so many charts, I love looking at them 😂😍 I'm too lazy to do my own so I'm just gonna stare at yours for a while 😂
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely happy you had such a great reading year! You branched out in so many categories and that's amazing
I love charts, I'm sure you can't tell 😆 Luckily, I've had these charts for years at this point, so all I have to do is go in and update the data, so it's not as tedious as it would be otherwise. Lol.
DeleteAll of these stats are so much fun to look at! I would like to see how many 1st person vs. 3rd person I actually read with how much I prefer 1st person.

I'm glad you enjoyed looking at them! I'm a big numbers person, so I love looking at stats and the visuals of the charts.
DeleteI love seeing everybody's stats! I have the same problem with the library. I can't stay out of it, even though I have a ton of unread books at home.
ReplyDeleteOmg, right? It's a problem 😂 But we would be broke without it. Lol.
