Despite my ranting about cooking last week, I still gotta do it, and for some reason, I decided to share some of the things I made this week. Lol.

First, I finally made my mom's tomato salsa situation, and it turned out fine. It doesn't taste like hers, I'll tell you that. Lol. First, I added too much water, and second, I don't think I roasted the tomatoes long enough. Well, I did it on the stove top, so I guess it's grilled? The point is, I don't like cooking because I don't have the patience for it 😂 Next time, I think I'm gonna throw them all in the oven. I'm much better with the oven. Lol. However, my chilaquiles that I was wanting all week turned out great! They are basically just fried corn tortillas with egg and the tomato salsa. (At the same time, I was also making chiles rellenos aka stuffed peppers, which is one of my favorite foods! However, I hate making them because the process is so freaking tedious. But they are so good that they are worth it. Lol.)

Another thing I tried my hand at for the first time: making homemade flour tortillas 🤤 If you've never had one, you are missing out! My mom doesn't use recipes when she cooks, but one day she measured stuff out just for me cause that's how my brain works, so I used those measurements to make them, and they turned out SO good!! However, this is a dangerous recipe to know because I can eat like 3 of these tortillas on their own, no problem 😂 This recipe is very similar, except we don't use lard. My mom used to, and they're good, but ick. I just don't find cooking with lard very appetizing... even though it tastes great! Lol. Anyway, instead we used some corn oil. (Also, I was burning my hand in that second picture because I had literally just taken it off the griddle 😂 Had to get the shot though lol).

I also made some chicken fried rice for the first time, which turned out pretty good, but the best thing I made this week was lasagna soup 🤤 I freaking love pasta, and this is the best pasta I have ever made! I used this recipe. I didn't follow it completely, though. Like, I didn't add the cream or the bay leaf. I added a splash of milk instead, though idk if that made much of a difference. I also added some spinach because while my anemia may be resolved at the moment, I still gotta fill those iron stores. Lol.

It was also my birthday yesterday, and while it wasn't super exciting, I had a nice day. It was very chill, which I much prefer to like a crowded party or something. In the monring I went to get my hair cut and then she styled my hair afterward which was nice because that was one thing I didn't have to worry about 😂 After that, I ran some errands, but then I went into downtown to our local indie bookstore where I bought myself a gift, my favorite cupcake place (as you can see from above lol... I ate the peanut butter one as soon as I got home and it was SO good!), our used bookstore (didn't buy anything from here), and last I went to the library to drop off some books and pick up another. I got home, took a nap because I woke up too early lol, then one of my brothers took me to dinner, which was nice. Then I came home and finished this post. I'm about to go read a bit before I head to bed. But Saturday was a good day. And apparently, my other brother wants to take me out to breakfast today because he couldn't make it Saturday, and you know what? I'm okay with that because one of our local breakfast places has the BEST buttermilk pancakes 🤤
I hardly ever talk about what I'm watching because it's either nothing or a rewatch. Lol. And that's because 90% of the timne I just have YouTube on in the background. Lol. So I thought I would share what I watch, since the YouTube Recap thing just came out.

First of all, some of this stuff is super inaccurate, and apparently I'm not the only one this has happened to. Because what do you MEAN home organization tips is my number one 😭 I literally only watch one channel on it... and I found that channel because she does gaming too! Lol. I literally only watch it because I like the YouTuber. Lol. And my top channels are ALL gamers--they mostly do Sims stuff.

And the third pic above is also all gamers. NintenTalk plays a lot of Nintendo games, mostly Animal Crossing, though. Tag does a lot of different stuff, and it's thanks to him that I've found games like Power Wash Simulator and Preserve. Lol. And SydMac is another Sims YouTuber, and she is by far one of my favorites! The Sims and builds she makes are gorgeous!

The first pick above is another one that is super inaccurate because I don't understand how you got "explored home design??" James Turner, who was mentioned above, has done like two renovations in the last year (the poor guy lol), so I watch the vlogs, but he mainly plays Sims! What the heck! 😂 And while I do like to watch scam baiters, I have not watched that many in late 2025. In fact, I think that should be replaced with bookish content. But what do I know? It's not like I'm the one watching these things 🫠😂 So yeah, this is what I usually have on on the YouTubes lol.

As for music, I don't use Spotify because I don't like it. Lol. I tried, but their shuffle option was terrible, and I could not be bothered to make a million playlists, which are two things I don't have to worry about with Pandora. Lol. Anyway, much to the surprise of NO ONE, Unlike Pluto was my #1 artist 😂
I don't think I played anything this week? I've been meaning to get back into the Sims, but it hasn't happened yet. Lol.

For my birthday, at our local indie bookstore, I got the 3rd Dungeon Crawler Carl book and a reading journal!

Idk if I'm a journal person, but I guess we'll find out next year. Lol. I've tried to keep an online reading journal before, and that lasted all of 2 weeks 😂 But maybe a physical one will work. Who knows.

At the library, I got What the River Knows, which should fulfill one of my prompts. And earlier in the week, I also got this R.L. Stine biography of sorts, also to fulfill one of my prompts.
All the food looks super delicious!! 🤤 Especially the tortillas 😍
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I never participated in the "wrapped" trend - partly because I don't use Spotify (I'm still a simple YT to mp3 girly and have all of my playlists saved directly on my PC), partly because I haven't found one that was absolutely correct. Almost every site nowadays has its own version of the "year wrap" thing and none of them get it right. Stats aren't always true, sometimes it's more about the vibes and the feelings 😂
A READING JOURNAL?!? *drools* I'm obsessed with those and I hope you do some sort of "journal decorating/filling in" post next year because that'd be so cute!! I've already finished almost all of my regular reading spreads in my new journal but haven't had the energy to take pics 😂 In any case, I hope you at least have fun with it!
I liked What the River Knows, but need to read on I think? I shared my Spotify Wrapped stuff this week too. All the food looks good and I bookmarked the lasagna soup recipe to hopefully make when I get some time. I hope you have a good week!
