Synopsis: Taro Sakamoto was once a legendary hit man considered the greatest of all time. Bad guys feared him! Assassins revered him! But then one day he quit, got married, and had a baby. He’s now living the quiet life as the owner of a neighborhood store, but how long can Sakamoto enjoy his days of retirement before his past catches up to him?!

Time has passed peacefully for Sakamoto since he left the underworld. He’s running a neighborhood store with his lovely wife and child and has gotten a bit…out of shape. But one day a figure from his past pays him a visit with an offer he can’t refuse: return to the assassin world or die!

My rating: ★★★★☆

I've been on a manga kick lately, so I'm glad this one was recommended to me because I really enjoyed it!

One of the things that caught my attention was that this manga was about assassins. Well, Sakamoto is a retired assassin, and we start off the series with another assassin, Shin, coming to recruit him back... or kill him.

This was just really fun! I loved all the characters and the almost found family aspect this had. Despite Sakamoto having been an assassin, he is such a caring person! He loves his family, is a great neighbor, and after all the death he dealt over the years, he's conscientious of people's lives... even if they may or may not deserve it. Lol. And despite being retired, he has not lost his touch... or his murderous thoughts. Lol.

This was also very action-packed, which I always love in a book. It was just a really solid start to a series. It had great characters and action, an interesting plot, and it was really heartwarming and funny all at the same time.

Have you read this book? If so, what did you think about it? If not, what do you think? Does it sound like something you might want to read? Leave me a link to your review or comment below! 😊
